Does the door lock work and the handle work OK? Maybe that has come undone and the act of closing the door makes it slap around inside. Just a wild *** guess.
Main thing to make it easier is... pull the wheel, drop the column a hair (Should be obvious which bolts to loosen) and undo the speedo cable (lay on your back on driver's side floor, insert hand up and behind dash, find speedo cable) before trying to pull it out.
I guess I should have got that from the ECU. LOL That's what happens when you only half read. Why did you replace the ecu? Just curious more than anything. Was it the same type of ECU or different one? 2 or 4 pin ballast?
I had a problem similar to what you describe. Although mine wouldn't start back up until I got out and wiggled the bulkhead connections. My bulkhead was oxidized like crazy. Cleaned it up, added a little dielectric grease and problem solved.
True muscle e-bodies (70-71) only existed for 2 years. There are far fewer of those than the b-bodies floating around. Of course their prices are higher.
You dont have the 6x9 speaker mounts in the rear? Or is it a vert did you say?
Maybe pull the front seat(s) out and build a speaker box underneath it/them.
The back speakers should be pretty obvious...I had to make some custom metal plates to mount 4" speakers under the dash...Not ideal from an accustical prospective...But I didnt hack up the kick panels like I have seen a lot of folks do.
Budnicks made a custom gauge cluster for his. Send him a PM for a link if you really want to go down that road. As I recall his looked pretty damn good.
