New: All-new interior
New: All-new electrical architecture...
I do pretty much everything Hyrdgoon said...the only other thing I typically do is use a vice grip to clamp off the rubber fuel line before the mechanical pump and let it idle out of gas so no gas is left in the carb. Well that and I just remove the battery for the winter. I don't bother with a...
Something is loose behind your dash. You will just have to find it. Just go through the wires methodically and trace them out making sure the connections are good and no cut/burns along the way. Sorry I know that's not a great answer but that's about all you can do. If you find something...
Well idk to be honest. I only ever had 68-70 bbodies. So your car won't start or anything? If you hold the wire and get the lights to come on will it start? Have you removed the bulkhead connector to see if there is heavy corrosion on the pins/connections?
Is it the connector that comes from the column? A big white clip with 6 or 7 wires in it? If so I would start there and see what's what in that clip. Failing there being an obvious issue there then the cabin side of the bulkhead connector perhaps. Hard to say. Something is loose obviously. But I...
The ground is the screws that you take out to remove the panel. I doubt that is the issue...but you could always run a separate ground to be sure. Most likely loose connection on that particular wire.
Oh I hear ya... I got a good place down here near me and I always let them know I am going to do something like that and get their blessing before doing it.
$70-90 bucks for high pressure pump and a few bloody knuckles later (also on your back) just to see. Most places will take it back even after it has been used if you clean it up OK.
If you covered the primaries and it didn't die... then you are likely sucking in air from somewhere. (i.e. vacuum leak)
If you can't find a leak check that the secondaries are not open a little.
Is it coming from bell housing? If so then likely the pump itself if the seal is good...but could also be over filled to the point that it is coming out of the vent hole or cracked TC.
Check choke operation and adjustment. Check throttle linkage isn't binding. Spray carb cleaner around carb and intake to check for vacuum leaks. Hold your hand over the primaries and see if it starts to die or keeps on keeping on... if it does its getting air from somewhere. Timing good?
