Haven't been on here much lately but figured I'd check on your progress, the little garage looks way better than it did especially with the useful addition. So is this the last of your concrete work, looks like the other 2 sections are blocked?
Still plugging away here and there, mostly stripping the old stain and restraining the rest of the house at the moment but did get the dormer sided as well.
I ran triple 2×12's with 1/2" plywood sandwiched in between to bring them out to 5 1/2" wide matching the studs. Another thing working in my favor is there's really no weight other than the roof over the left door, on the right side because of the 8' wide dormer the trusses are doubled up with...
I've been a DeWalt guy for decades, still love them but we've been buying Milwaukee's at work and I'm super impressed! We've got a 3/8, 1/2 and 3/4 impact plus drills and drivers and they are downright nasty little boogers. I'm especially in love with the compact 3/8 impact, super small with...
Window is in:thumbsup:. Didn't have any help so I cobbled up a stand with a lip so there was no way I could drop it, went pretty smooth. Shingle shakes coming in tomorrow.. to be continued.
Definitely putting those in my shop but in this garage which is parking only there's no real need for extra head space with a 10' ceiling. The cost is already killing us, 28'×28' attached garage... that will be cheap and easy I said:rolleyes:. My wife is ready to kill me already.
I agree, out of all the things I've tackled it's probably the most rewarding. To me a lot of it knowing you built something that could literally survive fire and tornadoes and will still be there long after the house has falling in.
I honestly forgot all about this thread until I saw a notification, talk about bad memory!! Not a bunch of updates, we're building out of pocket now that the roof crushed our funds and holy cow is the cost killing us!
With the house having stone walls amongst other obstacles and the service...
Nice, I wouldn't call that a crazy idea.. makes to much sense to be crazy. Gained some space and made both structures look better at the same time, win, win.
Because of the recertification price plus shipping we throw all of our electrical safety gloves in the trash at work and just buy new ones, those are the best gloves for parts cleaning!! I take every pair thrown out home, they're thick and easy to put on and take off. If you know someone that...
That stuff works great (Purple cleaner) on cleaning the chain lube residue off of my dirt bike but it makes your hands feel slimy in a bad way, doesn't seem very safe on your skin?
Kerosene is a bit less stinky but even it gets nasty after a little time. I tried some water based cleaner from Summit, worked decent but had scum floating around and started to rott my tank out so I'm back to kerosene until I find something better. I think the best route is going with something...
I recently bought a brand new Worth lift when I built my new garage, all of my communication was by phone. As far as quality goes it's a super solid and massive lift, everything looks well put together and it works great. I went with Worth because they were made in Texas, they have large...
I'd love to do something like epoxy but I'm certain I'd destroy it with everything I do in mine. I acid stained mine then sealed it, looked incredible but the sealer didn't hold up at all so I'm back to having a shitty looking floor. I've been considering trying wax?
Oil-less... I'd be moving it out of the garage for sure, damn are those obnoxious as hell. I had one for awhile, next one was a Lowes compressor, don't remember the brand but it wasn't much better. Now I have a 4 cyl Challenger, wow what a different in noise, cfm, vibration.
I'm in Ohio and I put mine upstairs (my garage is 2 stories). It's not heated but being upstairs has an advantage.. gravity. You can plumb your drain through the floor where it's heated and drain it downstairs. So far no issues even when it's below zero. Even in our old garage where it was only...
