The Elephant In The Room: unloading the load from a B-body.

You could’ve used the 5 point racing belts. Frankly in my cars I won’t use the shoulder belt.

Deeper pinion for a race setup?

Well crank, back around 68-70 the Chrysler engineers said give a little extra because the gears would suck into each other under power,..I think.. that might be backward..never mind.

The Elephant In The Room: unloading the load from a B-body.

A long time ago I weighed my 64 savoy Max Wedge at MIR a van seat and gutted interior no front bumper. They said 3091 without me in it. To this day I dont know if that was right. I met a guy around 2000 that had a 64 Dodge he had trimmed his down to 2800 pounds with metal parts still. This guy...

    How do you do burnouts?

If it’s coming around that side tire is bitting more, rear not square to car, weights on tire not equal. If you start in first after you do the burnout put it back in first and roll slowly forward a little to reset the sprag. That’s how you save your leg, it will feel funny if the sprag rolled over.

Tim’s car had all the original stuff then, even paperwork on the car. Of course that was in 76, you could literally eat off this car, just like the day it was bought. If it had been a plym I might have bought it, just didn’t prefer Dodge. In fact I was offered a 64 Dodge lightweight set up with...

In 1963 which car manufacture dominated the NHRA?

Back in the mid 70s a friend (Tim) had a 63 red Dodge aluminum Max with that sticker and another about taking off the transporter. Wanted to sell to me for $3400 (uncut perfect car) said he had a title for it (one of my questions). Of course another guy bought it and painted it black, put a...

In 1963 which car manufacture dominated the NHRA?

They certainly could guzzle gas with the inline two fours, Chevys drivetrain was junk, keep the u-joint-rear gear company’s in business. A buddy had a 62 bubble 4 speed 409 bored .125 over and couldn’t keep up or together. Called the Tennessee Stud. The local races they did ok but when the big...
