Asking your opinion; best wheel package for a 1970 Super Bee

Wheel decision also dictates tire lettering decision in my opinion. I believe if you are running higher chrome wheels that "Pop" Then black letters out. If running a dark solid color wheel? Then white letters out. I like contrast in a wheel package with it's tire.

Asking your opinion; best wheel package for a 1970 Super Bee

And shortly after my high speed test. (Which this car was incredibly smooth and stable. My first GTX (alittle quicker thru the gears) would have been vibrating with complaints at 130 MPH.) This guy is a Highway Star! Give her 440 more build? 7k RPM with an OD gear? She just might hit 200.) Just...

Asking your opinion; best wheel package for a 1970 Super Bee

This is my GTX. What's weird that truthfully I didn't notice when first purchased 5+ years ago? The fronts are 14" Rallys. The rears are 15". Back in the day I was told this was a "No No." But I ran this on an undisclosed stretch of Hightway in Montana. The stock 150 MPH buried. Stock tach...

Asking your opinion; best wheel package for a 1970 Super Bee

As one can see. There are many very decent options. And of course, application really dictates desirable outcome. If all out performance for a Street/strip or Pro Street application? I would recommend Welds or Centerline brushed aluminum. If Street "bling" is needed because car color or body...

Oh man. I would have sellers remorse big time. I'm sure you got serious coin. But still?

    Sticky Street Tire

Back in the day one wouldn't even consider a radial vs bias for performance compond traction. But the technology has come a long ways for radials. M/T street slick (ET street SS) will likely get you at or very near top traction compond and design. Nitto has some decent low profile options if...

    Radial vs. Bias Ply

Radial tire is just far superior for street use. Technology testing put any doubt to rest. Race track can be a different story depending on conditions and application. I really wouldn't consider bias for any extended highway use. Even drag radials are closing the drag race performance gap on bias.

    Radial vs. Bias Ply

For me? I have not has good fortunes with Goodyear. Either race or street. They perform great. Don't last worth anything. Much better with BF Goodrich street and Hoosier strip.

    Radial vs. Bias Ply

Yup. I remember couldn't wait to make upgrades. Now? A whole different ball game.

    Radial vs. Bias Ply

I believe we are missing the point today? I was a child of the 70s. And my high school car was a 66 GTO. I would have been laughed off the parking lot had I swapped my Cragars with wider stance for redlines on steelies? I'm not suggesting go with today's 20 inch on a wagon wheel rim. But I...

    Radial vs. Bias Ply

Back in the day these cars did come off the factory line with the redlines. But they were crap. And most dealership's changed them to a newer (and typically wider) than the 5.5"? Today's spare donut is as good as the late 60s redlines? I understand the "Blue blood's" wanting the factory "Look."...

    Radial vs. Bias Ply

On the street? Radial. Especially today's tire technologies. On the strip with slicks? Bias. I tried a set of radial slicks on my 10 sec Duster. Ran same times. But did spin them once that was unexpected. I believe they don't flex as well. I was told they last longer, but I wanted them off...

    White Lettering In or Out?

NO. He shall do what the FBBO God's command! Unless you work for Good Year or something and have a vested interest in advertising for them? White letters only distracts from the car! And so it shall be written! And law of the land! (Ok, maybe that's a bit of a stretch. But I voted black out.)

    Wheel Choices, Looking for Opinions

For performance I would recommend Welds. Centerline aren't bad either. But for curb appeal I found Cragars hard to beat in musclecar era. Even by today's standards of all the custom options. JMO of course.

minimum tire to leaf spring clearance

I'm assuming radial tire? A bias slick requires more room. Radial slick is said to have little to no tire squeeze/tire growth. (For lack of a better word) Thus little to no additional expansion room required.

    "B" Bodies With 17" Wheels.........Post Your Photos

True. To a point. If you lose grip? Tire roll is irrelevant. I'm sure there are formula's for optimal cornering tire/rim combo. Including HP gains and losses. (The farther wheel weight is away from center? The more power it takes to turn.)

    "B" Bodies With 17" Wheels.........Post Your Photos

The only performance increase options is brakes. There is no performance advantage with 18" rims. Especially with any acceleration. (Unless you putting some monster size tires under your wells) low profile tires side walls has to be much stiffer to support the energy with less available rubber...

    Largest rear wheel and tire.

Lol. I think it's asked so much in hopes someone will have a new and revolutionary tire and rim combo to (magically) fit a big tire inside a stock wheelwell? I tried to see how my drag race Duster's 30"x10.5" (actual dimensions 29.5"x10.4") with Weld 15" rim's would line up in my '69 Street...
