Engine rebuilder broke the dipstick tube off on my 68 318. He put an aftermarket Mr Gasket chrome, in. I didn't want chrome. According to all sources I found, all small blocks take the same one. except van and pickup truck.( I doubt that) The tube is very long, and I don't like it. It is...
With this newer set up. the inbox -messages have to be cleaned out often. I don't like it because if you want to save some messages, you don't know it may be full and miss a new messages ......................MO
On my 64 Dodge, I got the 4 speed floor hump, laid it on the floor, marked around it , took the hump up and made another mark about 1" inside of the first mark, and that is where I cut for the floor hole..................................MO
I used Boom Matt . In all fairness, its aluminum facing is fairly tough , but it was a while before I got the carpet installed. different people were inside the car and they probably weren't as careful as I would have been I highly recommend the boom matt for it's effectiveness and being odor...
It may be that my set up ( every thing new or re-conditioned ) may be out of the ordinary. I was going to use an after market manually adjusted proportioning valve like most older street rods and cars, but found that I did not need it.
I think that in later years, with all the government...
Mine is a stock early 70's rebuilt master cylinder. I would say to try your set up without a proportioning valve and then install one if needed. Point is, just because everyone does it, that does not mean that it is neccessary. That goes for many "must do" everyone else does, way of...
I do not know the situation in this particular thread, But I do know that Manual disc brakes on front and drum brakes on rear does not always mean you have to have a proportional valve at all. I have none on mine , and it passed my " skid tires " test very well.........................MO
Look on the inside of your rear quarter panels. The factory used a " granular" coating there for sound and vibration dampning. It probably will not be a smooth solid coat, more like a few back and forth swipes with the spray gun. They were not particular with being neat, and what you see...
You don't necessarily need a proportioning valve. I did not put one on my 64 Dodge until I had a chance to try it out. Can't see how it could work any better..........................MO
You will be disappointed with the performance with anything less than 354 Chrysler. And then spend a lot of money to make them go. I had a 354................................MO
You say it has a 4 speed ? what size truck are you talking? If it is a smaller truck with an car sized tranny, most likely it is the Overdrive A833. Not worth much and not much in demand. If it is a 1/2 ton or larger pickup, it wil have a tranny that is unsuitable for a street car. FYI a...
I have had a pertronix point conversion on my 56 Chrysler/Hemi for over 6 years. With their coil, it puts out plenty of spark and the engine starts right up with no points maintenance. I will use an Igniter III on my 64 Dodge build......................................MO
It also depends on how much of the parts need to be transferred from one engine to the other. ie: pulleys, brackets, pumps, intakes, carb, exhaust manifolds, etc. .............................MO
Dave, you should hear that brute from inside the car with nothing on the floors, about 8" of exhaust pipe on the manifolds and no boots on the shifter. Loud a plenty at 40 MPH let alone a good hard acceleration!! Stay tuned on the 62-65 site, or here, after next Thursday. A big PITA should...
Unless you are from the land of the rich, I would check out some other muffler shops. I can get duals from the exhaust manifolds out the back ( less the mufflers) for less than $300. I have a 64 Dodge................................MO
