I decided to go with Hughes 3000k stall converter so I’m selling my B&M 2000k stall 11.125/10 inch bolt pattern converter with appx 150-200 miles on it for $150 plus shipping.
So this weekend I was able to install my transmission cooler as it was recommended my several members on this thread and installed a new torque converter 3K stall. After getting everything buttoned up I fired her up and dam she made the same rattling noise as before which confused the heck out...
Several months ago I started experiencing the same exact thing with my 68 Charger. I was told that it could be that my torque converter is bad and need replacing so that’s up on my to do list because the metal rattling noise had me thinking that it was coming from the motor which I’m thankful...
I don’t have any additional gauges outside of my factor rallye cluster w/o tic tach but when I would drive it around it sounded as if it’s reving high at appx 45-55 mph.
I’m also trying to determine my crank type to ensure I’m getting the proper pieces. The 383 I had built cane out of a 69 C body and the crank number is 2206519 (steel), block 2468130, heads 2843906. on another site I saw that 383/400 2bbl has cast cranks and are externally balanced which have me...
This may be a stupid question but Will I have any fitting issues installing it since a 11 inch converter originally came with the transmission and now going to a 10 inch?
Question... my motor was originally a 2 barrel 383 but and from my understanding those 2 barrels 727 tf tranny’s came with 11.75 torque converters but due to my engine upgrades as well as a 4 barrel carb does this mean that I now have to switch over to a 10.75 converter?
I contacted FTI and was recommended a 2800-3200 stall, Hughes Performance recommended a 3000 stall and B&M a 2400 stall. I’m guessing that I’ll also will need to replace my original flex plate as well once I get the new converter...I really appreciate y’all advice/input with this.
Gotcha, I’ll pull it out to see if it ma cracked...but I still believe that a 2000 stall isn’t enough for the specs of my engine so at some point I’m going to get a converter that is and will definitely take the advice on the transmission cooler and pan.
No issues while installing the converter and the transmission was purchased new a couple yrs ago as well. It’s frustrating when seeking advice from “professionals” and you’re given bad information which leads you to spending more money down the line. It was mind boggling also because initially I...
They only give a 1 yr warranty on the converter and due to the fact that I’ve only put 630 miles in 3 yrs on a freshly built engine unfortunately I can’t request a refund or replacement since the warranty has expired.
Yea, my engine specs was maxing out the converter and yesterday after reading the details on that b&m 2000 stall it stated that it’s not for big blocks or supercharger applications. I’m chalking it up as a learned lesson but will definitely make sure I get the proper converter and transmission...
