    Edelbrock AVS2 thread

I installed the AVS2 after removing a Carter 4966. The 4966 is a great carburetor, but this one had some physical problems that weren't repairable. Plus I wanted a choke, so a new carburetor with an electric choke made sense. Especially since this is my daily driver.

    Edelbrock AVS2 thread

I managed to tune the AVS2 pretty well. Very happy with it. One thing I don't like about it is in order to adjust the high idle, you need to remove the transmission kick down connector, and then open the throttle all the way. Carter AVS you can adjust it simply with a 1/4" wrench. Other than...

    Edelbrock AVS2 thread

I recently put the new Edelbrock AVS2 on my very mild 383. I'm having some issues with it, which I won't mention now, but I just wanted to start a thread for those who have these carbs. I'd like to document the issues you have/had and your resolutions to those issues.

    Who knows carbs ?

I agree. Edelbrock already did all the research. Just email 'em and tell them what you told us. They will respond with all the part numbers you need. Easy.

    Carter Metering Rods

I've got a Carter 4966 that I'd like to richen up by changing the metering rods. Symptoms are a sputtering idle and cruise, but foot into the throttle seems to get enough fuel. I already have mixture screws backed out quite a bit and played with the timing... no vacuum leaks etc. This is...

Anyone run a vintage Edelbrock intake with a vintage Carter carburetor?

Would someone here be able to give me the measurements, on their Edelbrock carb, of the choke mounting bosses? I guess the distance between the bolt holes of the three choke mounts. I think I will try to retrofit a new Edelbrock electric choke to my Carter carb. Thanks!

Anyone run a vintage Edelbrock intake with a vintage Carter carburetor?

I haven't ruled that out. Thermostatic would be ideal, but I may do as you recommend.

Anyone run a vintage Edelbrock intake with a vintage Carter carburetor?

On my 383 Polara, I run a vintage Edelbrock DP4B intake with a vintage Carter AVS 4966. I could really use a choke for cold starts, but the intake has no place to mount a thermostatic choke. I wonder what others have done, short of a newer carb with an electric choke.
