I installed the AVS2 after removing a Carter 4966. The 4966 is a great carburetor, but this one had some physical problems that weren't repairable. Plus I wanted a choke, so a new carburetor with an electric choke made sense. Especially since this is my daily driver.

I agree. Edelbrock already did all the research. Just email 'em and tell them what you told us. They will respond with all the part numbers you need. Easy.

Would someone here be able to give me the measurements, on their Edelbrock carb, of the choke mounting bosses? I guess the distance between the bolt holes of the three choke mounts. I think I will try to retrofit a new Edelbrock electric choke to my Carter carb. Thanks!

I haven't ruled that out. Thermostatic would be ideal, but I may do as you recommend.

On my 383 Polara, I run a vintage Edelbrock DP4B intake with a vintage Carter AVS 4966. I could really use a choke for cold starts, but the intake has no place to mount a thermostatic choke. I wonder what others have done, short of a newer carb with an electric choke.
