Glad you were able to do 21 yrs in the military! I also did the same. I deal with the more extreme 'purist' in the Porsche world, they are almost as bad as the Corvette purist. After doing like 200 car blasts so far I see 'em as just a car, Superbirds and Daytona's are the same as their cousin...
Loved in BULLITT when the chase scene got going, the baddies in the Charger put their seatbelts on, today, we can't drive 10 feet without these modern cars screaming at us to buckle up, and the computer logs it as the seatbelts not fastened. Crazy!
Plastic media I recapture and reuse about 10 times before it goes to dust. True on the Air Plenum/box, that's true it is a large chamber and those usually are pretty strong! Yes, I am familiar with the Mustangs, IMHO a slightly better design; more galvanized sheet metal, seat platforms, and the...
True on the Alterkation having been around for a few years time, still curious about my questions, but, Im sure the engineering is solid, just wondering. For media blasting, well, depends who is available in your neck of the woods! Look at this soda can, and study it, I can tell you're a...
Re-reading this thread, and trying to type with a fooked up middle finger full of stitches, but, this is not your average hobbyist build! Pat, what is your background and job/experience? I got to say, there's a ton of money tied up in this car, I'd say a good 50k so far! One thing I think you...
Got the gas tank w/ fuel pump already in it. This is a working package, meaning it was in a 70 TA Challenger, guy went back to an original 340. What's it going to go in? Probably the Satellite as that's the first one that will come to life, think I'll be making deliberate moves to get that...
I just bought a 2007 5.7 w tranny, computers, gas pedal, gas tank w pump in it, crossmember -- all has been modified for an E Body (prolly can fit it in a B Body too) which came out of an E Body -- all for $6000.00. I have not installed it, won't be getting around to that for a bit!
75 lbs is a LOT of media to let go in a car body! I have to spend a good 4 hours or so blowing/vacuuming out the Body's when I'm done blasting them. Stuff is too expensive to let go.
I think the real issue here is the man building this car has mental health issues! I mean, wow, not even I'd be comfortable doing this! I love the home-made jigs to ensure all is aligned and true! But, I can empathize with this level of insanity! Here's what I'm doing on the side, and, yes...
Behind the obvious great work here, is my sincere admiration for the Time available to do this, and, AND the funds available to do this too! THAT'S the real story here, because I have limited time, and, limited funds...as we all do! Love this thread!
This thread was what got me to join and be active in FBBO! Thanks Darius for bringing this dead thread back up! Business has been busy with me too lately, so much that I'm hiring a 2nd guy to do some of the workload! Skilled work and workers are (is) hard to find!
I've heard from many sources XV is a sucky organization; you have to have a well-balanced machine; customer service, product, and pricing, if you're amiss on any, then you will be shooting blanks.
