Just about to shove this thing over the hill side. Nothing seems to go right. I installed the roof rail weather stripping and shut the door. That's it! Just shut the door. I think I have been doing this way to long. I hear people saying they don't make them like they used too. WELL MAYBE THERE...
I installed the wiring in the dash and hung the dash back in. Starting on some interior work and wiring now.
I am going to need some help with the interior as I go. Everything was torn apart and in the trunk when I got the car. I don't know how some parts fit. Especially the back seat panels...
I started working on the 68 again a couple of days ago. I haven't worked on it since Christmas. But getting in the mood to go again. So for the past couple of days I have been installing the headliner. Not perfect but the best I could do. First one I have ever done with the sail panel boards on...
Now I have to address one more hurtle that I knew was coming. This car had two speed wipers and that wiper motor will not fit with the six pack air cleaner. I was going to put in a three speed wiper but that will require a wiring change on the inside of the car and I already have my wiring...
I love the magnum 500 wheels. To me there is just not much you could do to improve what Ma Mopar did to a 68 charger.
I also got my sway bar put back on. and my park lamps restored and on. Pretty much done with the front and back. A few more things and I will be working inside the car.
I finally got my quarter end caps painted and put on.
I also got the T/A's Mounted on my magnum 500's and this is the first time it is on tires all the way around n 1 1/2 years.
Very cool. If you get into a bind with your build give me a shout. Although there are a lot of people on this site in the know about these cars I built mine from scratch never seeing one up close. And I have a good friend who is one of the best authorities out there on the S.B.
Thanks for...
Yes I live outside of Keystone nine miles from Mt. Rushmore. This is my clone bird. I painted it a custom color because I had too many blue cars. But it is over 10yearsold now and thinking about a full restoration and back to its original B5 blue. The truck next to it is ours also (too many blue...
I understand I was just surprised there was one there. I tried chase down a 68 R/T charger my cousin had in Tensleep that he bought from one of the Wells boys. Never could find what happened to it. So that is why I am building a tribute to that car. Anyway I built a S.B. tribute about 10 years...
Amazing story. I have to ask where in Wyoming was this car? I lived in Wyoming (Thermopolis and Cody)almost my whole life. I thought I knew every car and every gear head in the state. I had never heard of a Superbird in the state.
I installed the front and rear bumpers today.
Front spindles installed.
Now if I could only take a picture with out shaking like a dog pooping a peach seed. lol
I got a lot of the more boring stuff done today. New fuel tank installed , New fuel line in , both disc spindles bead blasted and installed with the new QA1 control arms. Torsion bars are in. I will have it on wheels soon. Still a lot of small things that take a lot of time. Up dated picture's...
