Is it possible it's been starting on run power all along but now with new dizzy it won't start on run power. Need to check and see if it's getting start power to the coil when cranking. Brown wire on end of ballast resistor should have 12v coming from switch when cranking.
Poor wording on my part as I meant ignition, not distributor. Like CANADIAN1968 said odd that it will work with old dizzy. Are you sure the ECU is good as they can cause some weird problems sometimes.
Using Rck Ato as a reference the mini starter was first used in 1988 on D150s and continued in use through 2002 on 1500s. There are 2 different versions as far as power goes. Some are 1.0 KW and some are 1.4 KW, but will fit the same vehicles. If you look at the specs for the Delco starter they...
That meter only does AC amps, not DC. That's why it's so cheap. You won't find one for DC amps that cheap. If your battery has been on a battery tender all winter and it only shows 12.6-12.8V either the battery is bad or the tender is bad. You need a tester like...
It doesn't matter which way the plug goes as the center terminal is the ground for the starter relay and the outer pins are the back up lights. You just need to make sure the cable is adjusted correct so it is in park and neutral to start. Check the center pin with a meter to see if it is making...
Are you still running a resistor in the system? If so it needs to be bypassed by soldering a wire across the terminals or just making a jumper to plug the wires together. I would try to isolate the system by unhooking the power to the coil and crank it to see if it blows a fuse, and if it does...
I had a battery tender on the wife's Lincoln and it started showing a yellow light all the time meaning it was charging constantly. Never turned green and voltage would only get to 12.4. I sent email to battery tender company asking what voltage it should go to, to turn the light green. He...
Nice job KD. Sometimes it helps to make a written list of everything you need to check when something like this happens so you can check things off. Especially when it takes days sometimes to get around to everything. I've also found that if you can run a wire to the battery from where you are...
Can you hear that thing ticking. It's a bomb waiting to go off. If it were me I would be buying some new wiring if I wanted to keep my car from burning down.
