Just don’t buy the 440 Source Brand X that they promote as made by one of the big deal starter makers - undisclosed. Sounds like a no lose great deal. It ain’t
Wow that really sucks. I bought the same whole enchilada as you did a few years ago and have had no trouble. But if I would have seen a post like yours before purchasing I probably would have gone a different direction. I thought the MSD name was good as gold - I guess not. Hope you get things...
I had mine restored to brand new looking and operating condition by Instrument Specialties. The cost was around $900. They didnt take all that long either.
I prefer MSD RTR - I like the reliability of electronic ignitions. Of course my ride was a stroker but just a 440 to 494. Hassle free in that area. Wish I could say the same for the six pack carbs ...
I connected with the evil empire and bought the MSD RTR with a Blaster II coil and MSD wires as well. The set up was turn key from the beginning. Never looked back
I bought the evil empire MSD Ready to Run. No need for the additional red box. Runs great. Nothing really to maintain. Slick setup. Maybe a little pricey tho. I think it was around $500. Can’t really remember. Purchased from Summit. Worth comparing to the others.
My X is 50 years old and the tailpipes are right below the taillights - no color degradation at all. Has to be another issue. Agee with the above post - usually they change to a washed out whiteish kind of look.
Sorry to hear of the problems. Actually I put one of those in the X a few years ago. And it’s been a perfect product for me. I did the same thing with the whole nine yards. All MSD.
I bought one of there mini starters and it didn’t last very long before it burned out. Just off the warranty. After that poor experience I went with a Promaster mini. No such problems. Wouldn’t buy one of their mini starters again - no matter what they say about them....
For GM products I had a set of master keys back in the day that worked on virtually any GM. Mopars were always the easiest to hot wire.... if you needed to..
I bought mine from Year One during one of there fairly often 30% off sales. That’s one of the few items that was on sale that I ever wanted from YO. Good deal - but I can’t remember the brand they carry. It’s a good name - maybe someone else will see this and remember which one it is. Easy to...
If I get what you’re asking correctly - I have that MSD distributor in my GTX. I also have a six pack set up on it thus the correct air cleaner for same. That would be the oval set up. I don’t have any clearance problems. Everything works well and clears well.
