For a brighter white you may have to research outside of model year 1962, but if you are not concerned about paint originality, probably plenty of bright whites to pick from.

I have a 1967 Belvedere. The ignition key does not unlock/lock doors, i have an extra key that works the doors, probably because they are new door locks, and not original to the car.
Could be an issue things moving around on a 2 door hardtop. I replaced the the left front pan, rear footwell, and a small patch on the right front floor pan. My car is 4 door sedan with a rocker to roof b pillar.
Park on a level surface. I did mine at a large wall at a walmart, used a screwdriver , and adjusted the headlight adjustors. Phillips screw driver is all you need. You should be able to get the lights where you want them.
