I'm sure you have already done this, but just in case...
Check the date codes on the 383 block to verify that they are correct for your car. Make sure you are building the date correct block!
Assuming you have done that: I have now built two stroker engines. (1) My 340 small block stroked to...
Maybe I've gotten lucky, but I have fixed two of them pretty easily. As Demonic pointed out, they are electro-mechanical. When new, they had some light oil to lubricate them. That oil gets dry and old, and stops the movement. I have had great success with some careful use of carb cleaner and...
There are a lot of previous threads on this you should look at. A couple of very quick and dirty notes:
You could buy a 1000 Amp alternator, but it will only produce the number of amps needed to power electrical components that are on at any given time. Figure out what you need and don't go too...
Wow - Thanks for sharing. they are very cool (and some are likely very valuable too). What an awesome family heirloom! I think you should frame them and hang them up in a cool place - maybe your "man cave"?

Very cool video - love it! I am sure those guys with high dollar Porsches get bent out of shape having an old muscle car not just keep up but truly challenge them! Great car!
The cops are getting wise to the BS excuses. In most cases now, they check a driver's cell phone records and compare it to the time of the crash. Not sure how well it holds up in court, but it is a start...
I agree that the roads are getting dangerous as hell due to all the distracted driving. But like others have said, while cell phones are the primary reason, they are not the only reason. Putting on makeup, reading papers, messing with the car touch screen/navigation, etc. There are tons of...
Don't confuse current and power. Remember that Power = Current x Voltage (P=I x V). So 10 amps at 12 volts = 120 Watts, and 1 amp at 120 volts = 120 Watts too. The power capability of any wire is the same.
So discussions have started about fuses vs. fusible links. That is fine, but you need to make sure you find the cause of the problem. It is NOT the fault of the fusible link - it did what it is designed to do and saved your car from burning down.
Your Alternator gauge is fed by battery...
Nice find and congratulations on finding your old car! I think you have to just suck it up and do it. If both are project cars, I agree one needs to go. Road Runner all the way!
Good luck whatever you decide!

I'm not sure about the 64's as I have a 70, but that sounds like a hole made for a clutch pedal? If it is, maybe Brewer's or Passon? Look up CRB818 at Brewer's... http://www.brewersperformance.com/proddetail.asp?prod=CRB818
I use my rotary buffing wheel. It is a time consuming PITA, but well worth the results. My only fear is if the wheel catches and grabs the piece and knocks it around. I had that happen with a headlight trim ring, and besides hurting my hand, it really bent up the trim ring. Yes, I try to be...
Two comments:
1) I have heard (but honestly have not had this substantiated) that raising the car with shackles stresses the leaf springs and will help to de-arch them. Maybe this was an old wives tale??? Still shackles seems like an easy way to gain an inch and it seems relatively safe to me...
I agree with painting it the same as the car color. With just the scoop black, it looks more like a half finished add on (it would be OK if you had a wide black stripe down the hood and the scoop was part of that).
My $0.02
P.S. I think the car is really cool - so I am nitpicking here. I...
Draggin' my Moparse. Could be a multiple play on words. Drag for drag racing, dragging the back of the car due to it wheel standing, and in the unlikely event something breaks or isn't running right, why you went slow.
Not sure if any good, but I throw the suggestion out there anyway...
I'm not sure I agree. There are two factors to consider. The first is the amperage that blows the fuse. The second is the time it takes to blow the fuse when the amperage goes too high. A fusible link blows slowly, and if sized properly does its job, but allows for short spikes in power...
I have one from a ~1973 era, but it does not look like your picture and needs a new hose.
If it will help you, you can have it for the price of the ride...
PM me if interested.
