Mice chew wires because the copper is wetted with peanut oil to get the insulation on, don't get mad, this is what I've been told. It makes total sense as to why they chew wires all the time.
Please don't get mad at me for this. I just installed a new Powermaster alternator on the charger, and I just called their Tech Support. And he told me just add an 8 gauge wire from the back of the alternator directly to the battery. Didn't have to do anything else and it works super awesome.
I agree with you, I've even had digital multimeters LIE TO ME!!! Sent me on a wild goose chase replacing good alternators, finally i used a different meter and it was perfect at 14.5!
I can't tell you how many times I've performed a full tune up on many kinds of point ignition systems, to have no spark, spend all kinds of time trying to figure it out, then swapping in the old condenser and it fires right up! CRAPPY PARTS INVADED THE INDUSTRY A LONG TIME AGO...LOL
I don't know anything about MSD stuff, but after chasing electrical draws for years, I've seen many cases of capacitors inside devices that draw large current only momentarily when first connected.
Allow me to add my two cents. First, a relay on a high amp draw is always a good idea. The reason, let's say you have a long distance between the ignition and the starter, if you use a relay, you don't have to push the current all the way to the key and all the way back to the starter you just...
