Small Block 90* Oil Filter Adapter?????

Sold 2 of these recently, one was a cast iron unit & the other an alum unit off of mid to late 80s 5th ave 318. Don't know if the 5th ave unit would work but might be worth a try. Should be easy to locate and not too costly.

    318 Harmonic Balancer

Cranky's right. Outer ring connected to hub by a strip of rubber (or neoprene). Vulcanized (think glued). I've used both Summit brand and Professional products and both are adequate for small block street use. Only gripe is the location of the timing marks. They put them on the front of the...

    318 la cam bearings?

Be careful w/ grinding compound (assuming you are using valve lapping compound). It will leave grit in the soft bearing material. My experience w/ small block cam bearings is that they don't take much work to get correct clearance. Usually there is only 2 or 3 high spots to work down. Just scuff...

318 poly stroker head mods or porting?

Try to get your hands on a few back copies of Chrysler Power magazine. They have done quite a bit of R&d on the 318 poly. lots of valuable info including porting work.

    318 la cam bearings?

Chrysler V-8s all that way. Even gen-1 hemis and polys. Word of caution: bearings will have to be fitted as you go. Put the two end bearings (#s 1 & 5) in first and get them fitted. I use 320 emery cloth, scuff brg, install cam and rotate. You can then see the hi spots and work them down w/...

    Need input...rebuild 318 poly or build 360LA

Poly to LA conversion. The bellhousing mount on the 62 up poly 318 is same as later LA engines as well as the crank flange. Breakover year is 62, 61 and older had same bell and crank flange as the older gen 1 hemis and polys. Changing input shafts: remember reading an article in MA about that...

    383 engines

roudabush: All info you rec'd is good info. In 71 compression started dropping considerably and was last year for the 383. On compression (in PSI) vs. C-R: Keep in mind that CR is a mathematical ratio between a cylinders total volume (including comb chamber) at BDC divided by the cylinders...

Gear Vendors overdrive for 1969 Coronet R/T

'nother thing to check. Is the speedo pinion gear correct for your axle ratio? That's the little nylon gear that slips into the tail housing where the speedo cable hooks up. Here are some numbers that I got a few years ago out of a mag. For 3.55 gears by tire diameter: 24"=39t, 26"=36t...

Gear Vendors overdrive for 1969 Coronet R/T

Have you thought about the possibility that you may have a torque converter problem? I had 3.91 gears in my 65 for a while and it didn't run those revs at 70. Torque conv people may have screwed up in the assembly or labeling at the factory.

    Cast iron Borg Warner T-10

Trans inquiry got me curious. Went to an old Hot Rod article that I had stored years ago. Might provide some info that would help to ID your trans. Hot Rod Aug. 1980, Hot Rod's guide to 4 speeds. 1) Ford used early T10 from 60-65. 2) Merc started in 62. 3) All Fords had 28 spline output shafts...

    Cast iron Borg Warner T-10

That's an odd assortment of parts. I had a 63 dodge 440 w/ hp 383 and BW T-10. I think that was the only year that it was offered. They had a limited # of 3 speed units behind 413 cars in 62. That trans has the long pilot bearing area on input shaft but has a coarse clutch disc spline. My T-10...

Help - Identification of Torqueflite 727 bolt

That's 2 nd gear (kickdown) band adjust. It's a stud that goes thru trans case and correctly adjusts the band. It has a locknut to keep the adj. stud in place. I'm assuming the pic you show is from the shifter co. Really love those half baked instructions. You can't replace the adj. stud w/ a...
