I did the swap with Borgeson box and Bergman coupler kit. It's a completely different car to drive now. I recommend getting the kit and the cooler. The few bucks extra will save you major headaches. I used kerndog's thread on this topic as reference.
I've just done this swap. Bergman Auto Craft (FBBO Sponsor) makes a coupler that requires no cutting of the shaft. And yes, kerndog's epic thread (link above) on this topic is a great place for reference.
How did you get the seal for the coupler over the dowels on the steering shaft? Will it tear the seal if I try to wedge it over with a screwdriver? Is the seal in the photo the correct position to slip onto the shaft?
Thought I'd add this to your thread before I start my own Borgeson swap. No doubt I'll end up back here for reference and to annoy you with questions..

Thanks for taking the time to take pics and include explicit and detailed information. I've ordered a Borgeson box kit and cooler along with the Bergman connector for my '72 Satellite. It's the first steering box I've changed so need all the help I can get.
Do you think the cooler is necessary?
I'm just looking into a Borgeson kit with the Bergman connector, but use the factory pump that's already in the car.
Make sure they set the correct height first. They should roll the car back and forth and push down to bounce the suspension on each adjustment. Then recheck height and adjust accordingly until perfect.

I just replaced the ball joints on my (March) 1972 Satellite. The upper took the 1-59/64" socket. There was more than 2mm play in the lower ball joints with the left-hand side particularly bad.
