roadrunnerman, Mine was a R4/R4 with black vinyl top and white pinstripes (a spring addition). I posted this about it in another thread in the 66' - 70' (?) heading about spring addition RR's:
Thanks CoronetRTguy. Deciphering the fender tag and broadcst sheet is a real experience. Here is the...
Well, I figure $6k for the Roadrunner total was about 1/2 price. As for her getting to move back in, I don't know. That family has definitely got issues. :confused5:
Well, the nightmare is over...for the most part. The '65 went back and I got the '69 Roadrunner yesterday. I traded the car back and will give her the difference of $3k when I sell my '56 Chevy or '65 Belvedere II. I changed the title today so there is no going back for her.
So now for the...
The '65 Belvedere I 2dr sedan (post) is easily the rarer car:
1969 Roadrunner: 48,500+ hardtops (82,000+ total)
1965 Belvedere I: 12,500+ 2 dr. sedans (as compared to 25,000 Belvedere II 2dr hardtops (which is my gold car) and 23,000+ Satellite hardtops)
I'd rather not trade either, and...
Thanks for the replys and they have made me think on the situation more. My gut tells me that this is not a made up story on her part. Death in a family can really bring out strang emotions, even if it was years ago. One of her brothers builds coffin coffee tables so who knows where his mindset...
Basket Case, the title is in her name. I told her that honoring the brother by letting the Belvedere sit in the barn to rot is not right. You're right that they thought nothing of it until it was gone. I offered to give her the Belvedere I and Belvedere II back (I bought the Belvedere II from...
So I get a call yesterday (day after I purchased car) from the lady I bought it from. It seems that her mom and brother are so upset that she sold the car that belonged to her other brother that died 11 years ago, that she's been kicked out of the house (along with her 3 year old daughter)...
Thanks Ron, and here it is...
In the barn, same as I remember it 1 year ago...
After we dragged it with the tractor about 75 feet through the barn and wrestled it side way and out the entrance it emerges into the light for the first time in 20 years...
We couldn't roll it because the...
Woohoo, I'm picking it up on Saturday! I can't wait.
I'm not sure yet but probably cop wheels, haven't picked a color. If I keep both, I might paint to match and I do like the gold/white/black combo on my hardtop.
Yeah the body is really good. I'm looking forward to picking it up so I can...
So the barn mate to my '65 Belvedere II hardtop is finally for sale. I've made the call and hope to have it by this weekend at the latest! This Belvedere I has been sitting in the barn for at least the last 10-15 and maybe longer. The owner died years ago and it's now in the sisters name. I...
A little progress!
So I've made a little headway with my '65. Put new battery cables in it, got a new battery, new air cleaner, new belts, new hoses, removed the rear bumper, wire wheeled the rust out of my trunk and applied a converter/sealer to it. I got my gas tank out and am getting ready...
I'm not really sure yet. I want to put a 440 in it and I plan to keep the gold/white color combo. I'm not sure about the interior. It has the most expensive combo to replace so I might go to black or go to a two tone. I want to go with 8.5 rear cop wheels and put the biggest tires I can without...
Got tires and wheels.
I found some tires and wheels for the car so I can at least roll it around. E/T IV mags with brand new 245/60/14's from CL (still had stickers on the tires). I figured for $300 I can always sell them later. Also got the worst of the crap out of the trunk and inside...
Today was a good day. We got the Belvedere to fire up after changing out the plugs, wires, points, condensor, cap and rotor. It runs pretty rough, but after sitting for 24 years I'm pretty happy it runs at all. Also got a ralley wheel from my neighbor on that actually holds air. 1 down 3 to go.
The Blue Shop!!!
moparmarkk, what we saw in the blue shop would make any grown man drool.
Long story short, the father died a little less than a year ago. One son had died 10 years ago. Mom, two sons and a daughter are letting some of dad's collection go. The stuff in the blue shop is not...
More Pictures
More pics from the day my car came home. First five pics are at the place I got it from. It was located in the lower barn (gray w/red roof). We had to pull it forward out of the barn with a tractor. Once out the far end, we had it pulled backwards way up the driveway to get it at...
