Top blue one is - WL41 4-door based on window shape/plain tail panel. (I think they overshot on jacking that one up.:) JMO)
This one is an illustration that presents as a 440 (for the most part); narrow 1/4-scoop trim plus wheel well trim. Looks like they drew a 4-door/wagon type of upper door...
Following back the archive info @DeltaV found, to the "high" res image - Can now make out 440 on the side and Venezuela on the plate. Those wheel covers are 15" C-body.
It certainly seems to have an identity crisis? I believe that is "500" style lower paint, but with "440" style side-moldings? It has R/T badging, but it also has 'something' where "Coronet-500 or -440" would go on the fender? No visible head rests (or front seats even) but my Spidey-senses are...
A few items to peruse - whether helpful or not is debatable. Mitchell is of the opinion the 500 and R/T got the painted caps; actual practice seems much more variable. The parts manual is of practically no help in regard to this.
Iffy - you should post a pic.
Probably D4 0 is D440 and you just can't see the 2nd "4". D would be model-year 1968 440 cu in
Date is probably Oct 28th (10 28) - the last "2" would mean built 2nd shift
"A" is a 0.020" oversize bore
The letter "I" is simply used in place of the digit "1" in the body stampings.
In your first pic, you've got the "7" year and "2" plant. The numbers that follow are "505" - the scheduled production date; May 5th 1967 (Added to the Sales order # by corporate). The unique Sales order number...
Someone can check me on this, but I believe this would be:
B= Hamtramck
8= 1968
B= Barracuda
A11545= the order number, and if memory serves, the "A" indicates 'built for Canada'
I could have the Bs reversed, but it seems Plant/Year/Model if I remember right.
Just what the doctor ordered @69Coronetrt :)
Nosin' around and found a nice example that clearly has 2-speed wiper motor/no J25, so that was erroneous. The window stickers show power steering likely not a part of the package either even though this particular car happens to have it.
Unfortunately, I don't have a brochure or anything to reference - this is an amalgamation of some old posts on here and from around the web:
"A14 1969 Spring Special: Consisted of a Vinyl roof, Magnum road wheels, 3-speed wiper motor, Power steering, Belt moldings, Black hood paint...
My opinion from an engineering standpoint: Triangulation
The steering column is a relatively long class-3 lever in this application. If a driver weighs 250lb and "hangs" on the steering wheel, that translates into ~500-750lbs of vertical down-force at that spot on the cowl. Adding the brace (a...
I just noticed you said your Charger is a '68 - That prior parts catalog pic I posted was from the '69 catalog ...guess I only looked at the title.
For what it's worth, apparently the "equivalent?" '68 part (2864291) fit all model/panel versions? You should verify further as needed. My...
I can't say for sure from experience, but it is suspiciously missing from the "Charger" body-style (29; sports hard top) column in that B-Body row of the parts manual. I believe the Charger was automatically equipped with Rallye gauges.
for the 051 axle, I've got front disc car, 8-3/4 axle, 3.23:1 open, 10 x 1-3/4 drum rear
668 = PK3410668 a727b automatic
I don't have reference for that specific engine code
Edit note - The engine and axle numbers are part/assembly numbers used on the production line... not "catalog numbers"...
Here's some notes I have - for whatever they're worth. I don't recall where I found this at - it is someone else's OC. I see the auto-A/C '089' assembly is indeed 335/orange
084 - 383/4, manual, a/c, painted blue, 330hp 1970
085 - 383/4, auto, no a/c, blue, 330 hp 1970
086 - 383-4bbl...
My understanding - which may or may not be accurate:
Deluxe/440/500 with 383-4/auto, and anything with A/C, get the "383 Four Barrel" 330hp cam Blue/Carter engine
Superbees (with any transmission), and those above with manual transmission get the "383 Magnum" (sometimes called the Superbee or...
I'm sure he does - there's a wealth of information available to all of us over at Hamtramck Historical - which is where this image was lifted from and cropped.
