I agree 100%. I went from 4 wheel manual drums to power with front disc. I couldn't be more satisfied with the brakes. My buddy down in KY has a 69 Coronet and it scares me how you have to stand on the brakes in that car.
I agree, but that includes all vehicles. In this case we are discussing a particular muscle car, which would lead most people to think a lot were built with 4 speeds, compared to grocery getters. I also, like Ranger16, find it hard to believe that for a 1969 440 ci GTX hardtop that less than...
In the Mopar world, the numbers lean heavily in the direction of AT's for practically every muscle car model made. I don't know if it's true or not, but I have heard that because the Torqueflite was quicker than brand X four speeds that stop light racers preferred them.
I think the nuts are 3/8". I find the best method is to use a 1/4" drive socket with either a very long extension, or several short ones. When reinstalling, I tape the nut to the socket by wrapping electrical tape around the socket and the edge of the nut. The nut won't fall out of the socket...
Right off the bat I want to says kudos, RGAZ, to you for your research. You took up my challenge and seem to have found evidence of Buick using hardtop sedan as a designation.
Now let's get back to stickling. First of all it is very hard (to me) to figure out on this website what was written by...
Not a car company.
The Wikipedia definition contradicts itself, as it first gives as a definition of a sedan as a car with a B pillar, then later talks about a hardtop sedan which has no B pillar.
I realize this is a discussion that has no resolution, but I still say a majority of car people...
Not to me. Show me any piece of documentation, advertising, order, description, or whatever where any car company listed a hardtop sedan. A hardtop has no B-pillar, sedans do.
I really like the list that beanhead showed.
I find it very insightful that you have to use the universally agreed upon hardtop and sedan to define your body names. If you asked 10 people what a sport coupe was you would get many different answers. Ask those same people what a 2 door hardtop is and you will get one.
You left out a 2dr sedan. Is it a coupe too?
Also wagons were made as sedans and hardtops.
So a hardtop with roll down rear windows is not a coupe?
I again repeat how the designation coupe seems to have many different interpretations, while hardtop and sedan don't.
The weird thing about these cars (in my mind) is that they are part sedan and part hardtop. Sedan because of the rear wing window post, and hardtop because there is no frame around the door window. I have never liked the coupe designation because it is used for both sedan and hardtop by various...
Here is my work in progress. My main changes to it are body color from black to bronze metallic (an original 1968 color), auto to 4 speed, Ramcharger fresh air hood and ducting, front disc brakes, power brakes, power windows, fender turn signals, passenger side mirror, tinted glass all around...
