How Does This Spark Plug Look To You??

Guys who are experts... It looks rich to me, however, the first thread isn't colored/dark, why is that? Just run time?

73 Charger SE won’t start, won’t crank, won’t even try.

If no power, trace it back through the bulkhead, and to the switch, make sure you have 12v at the switch where needed per the wiring diagram

73 Charger SE won’t start, won’t crank, won’t even try.

Do you got full 12 v to the starter relay from the switch when cranking? ( Testing at the relay) I don't remember the color

    Hot Wire Ignition Caught Fire

No, I believe he hooked pos to pos on the coil, and neg to neg on the coil

    Hot Wire Ignition Caught Fire

The wire from the post post of the coil goes to ballast resistor, voltage regulator, and a maybe a few others. It might of melted your switch and/or bulk head too. Youl have to inspect. Also ohm out the coil

    Hot Wire Ignition Caught Fire

The neg on the coil is the "switch" from the distributor , to give spark.

    charging issue

After that, make sure regulator is grounded, and you have close to battery voltage at the IGN terminal. Mine was 1 volt lower! Bad fuseable link

    Anyone still rebuilding starters etc?

Field coils almost never need replaced EXCEPT on 66-67 Charger headlight motors .. all mine have been bad

How long will a set of "hot" points last...

I assume it would cook the condenser fairly quickly, never done it with a stock coil

66 Coronet Ignition Switch Problem ??

Is this off the back of the switch? Mopar bulkheads are known to burn up and cause issues

    not putting enough voltage out

With your old regulator? If so, good to know

    not putting enough voltage out

Yep, that was the first thing I told him . He's got a Durango alt, I don't know if that will work with old style regulator

    not putting enough voltage out

Here's another article, looks like it may work https://www.backyardmechanic.org/how-to-build-a-external-voltage-regulator-for-dodge-jeep-chrysler/

    not putting enough voltage out

Here's a vid showing installing a external regulator on a 90s Chrysler. It MAY work, you'll need more research

    not putting enough voltage out

Can you swap/modify the pulley to work on a old Mopar alt?
  16. M

    not putting enough voltage out

There are some aftermarket ones that are, but Chrysler's are usually pcm controlled. Same as old style regulator, only uses a digital signature vs old open/closing points to regulate voltage
  17. M

    not putting enough voltage out

I guessed 99 ish, looks like it does run to a PCM. Im not sure it will work with that regulator. It may work with some type of digital signal

    not putting enough voltage out

Some who knows the newer stuff will have to chime in. The Durango alt may be computer controlled, I'm not sure. There would be no where to even hook up that regulator
  19. M

    not putting enough voltage out

I re-read your post. You have some aftermarket single wire alt on there? Not the Mopar w 3 wires in the back?
  20. M

    not putting enough voltage out

Oh, ok, I thought you had the newer style You got 12v at the IGN terminal w key on?
