    66 Coronet factory disk brakes

Yeah, I don’t think there were many takers back then but yes they were an option.

    Bought a pretty clean '66

So nice. Amazing to think a car like this made it 55 years in such pristine shape.

    All About Suspension Upgrades

Learn about, and pay attention to geometry. As you mess with ride height in the front and axle arch in the rear you also mess with the intended body lean steering. Many simply go for ultra stiff springs, that can work but you also can get equivalent handling with lighter springs if you keep your...

Did any 426 wedges show up in early 66 cars?

No, I never knew him. I thought that the 440/365 took over from the 426/365 for ‘66. Being so similar I guess it wouldn’t be much of a shock if they mixed a little.

How to tell if it’s original

What you’ve shown all adds up. Transmission is a ‘67 318 B/C body number, block was cast about the right time, -741 axle is appropriate. The small block B-bodies if they still have small blocks are generally more likely to be original, less abuse, less focus on modifying them for power.

How about just a random picture. NOT the entire car

Paint job I did this morning.

    1966 Transmission Identification

Pretty odd then, I have two trannys from ‘64s , one has 0811 which is October 17, ‘63 the other has 0770 which would be a month or so before that. Seems like too much of a coincidence to be random and not the 10000 day calendar.

    1966 Transmission Identification

Numbers say one is 1969 the other is 1970. Look on maxwedge.com for the calendar. Did they use the same number tranny all years?

    1966 Transmission Identification

It's the part number of a 66 hemi 727. Stamped into the pan rail just like above. Back to where we started, what numbers do you have?

    1966 Transmission Identification

Yes, 4 pinion clusters instead of 3, 5 clutches instead of 4, governor shifts higher, some other stuff too. Torque converters still swap, just a little beefier inside, nice place to start if you have one.

    1966 Transmission Identification

Along the pan rail is a series of numbers. The first series begins with letter. Take the sequence (7 digits after the letter) and put it into Google with the word transmission. You'll doubtless be directed to to some search result that answers your question.

    Power Steering Pump Bracket-Pulley-Cap

You latched on to an ancient post so I’m doubting the OP will reply. What is it you need? The whole package or just the brackets? Which type? They are out there, especially Saginaw if you need the whole pump.

    Coronet R/T Headstamp

Oh you’re right! Missing the “3”. Good eyes.

    Coronet R/T Headstamp

Look more closely, there should be a 7 digit number up there somewhere. Are there freeze plugs in the end of the heads?

    Coronet R/T Headstamp

The boss to the right of the distributor should have “C440” stamped in the upper left corner, “HP” or “HP2” stamped in the lower right and a month-day date (Like 11 12 for November 12th) stamped elsewhere that leads the car build date by 1-30 days. Casting number should be 2536430. Casting...

    Looking for recommendations

For a decent stockish ride just go to Rock Auto and get all the bushings, ball joints, rod ends etc. You might want to confirm they are 440 torsion bars while you’re in there, those factory bars on the smaller engines were kinda squishy. Also helpful. If you’re running radials the alignment...
