    Welding in a K frame

you can weld the k frame all day , wont hurt a thing, it's mild steel but high strength steel can not be heated it looses its internal structure making it mild steel and worthless for strength, spot welds and short stitches you can get away with to replace pieces but long welds turn it into garbage

    Welding in a K frame

you would be welding to a high strength sheet metal (unibody) when you weld it will take all the hardness out along your weld leaving it very weak mild steel, it wont last long
