How hot do the bolts get anyway, being in the water jacket? This is good for 450 degrees. But removing them later could be an issue.

Somebody must make them - it's not uncommon in the metric world, they're called reducing studs. Maybe you need to make your own on a mini lathe.

If it's a two stage paint, then lacquer thinner won't do much to it. Try a rag soaked in brake fluid for a couple of hours.

Short answer...yes you can add a converter and have it work. You'll be using a two way converter like in the 70's since you don't have computer controlled fuel or oxygen sensors. However, you shouldn't be getting fumes in your car anyway. Make sure your exhaust is tight and keep the engine...

There's no real reason to think that adding catalytic converters means the power will go away, modern cars have them too. However, even those require some electronics. The old two way converters won't do much for NOx emissions, the modern three way have been in use for nearly forty years now...

That's hilarious - I was just going to point out that the plastic straws come in paper wrappers around here.

Oh, okay. I had understood that it was illegal to give them out without a request, but it was okay if someone asked for them. I have no problem with paper straws. Actually, I just use stainless steel straws here at home. Back to exhaust now. :)

When I got my '70 road runner in 1977 it had the rectangular tips on it. I like them and they're staying. :)

It also won't cut through grease, so be sure to take that off first. Otherwise, I've had good results with molasses for years.

Electric steering is more common on new cars. Cars that run with the engine off such as hybrids need electric steering. There is a pretty good DIY article here in the forums...
