    Ignition Selection

Another unsubstantiated endorsement. WHY do think electronic ignition is better than points for an occaisional use vehicle vehicle? Just curious as to decision making process...... BOB RENTON

    Ignition Selection

Ray.....my experiences with a 1965 318 cubic inch 2 bbl polyhead engine is you don't want to exceed 5000 RPM too often or too long.....or....you'll be replacing the rod bearings......ask me how I know...... BOB RENTON

    Ignition Selection

IMO....I concur whole heartily, poihts will be just fine for an occaisional use vehicle. Looking at pix of the distributor, it appears to be using Blue Streak points and condenser. The distributor looks to be a little corroded and rusty. There should be a metal tag on the distributor body...

    63 carb question

FYI.....The carb shown is a 1-1/2" Carter BBD for a B block engine snd WILL NOT fit a 318 A or LA engine, which use a 1-1/4" carb spacing. Thought you'd like to know...... BOB RENTON

    63 carb question

YES...the earlier carbs used a clamp band on the air cleaner mounting flange, later, after 1965 used a spring bale with a permanently attached stud. There were two carb suppliers: Stromberg 1-1/4" WWC3 and a Carter 1-1/4" BBD. After 1968, almost all carbs used were the Carter design...

1962-65 dual quad adjustment/tuning sheet from Carter

The difference between the solid seat and the soft seat: solid seat is metal to metal (the screw in seat and the moving stem opened by the float pull clip) and the soft seat (basically the same EXCEPT for a tapered viton tip on the moving stem opened by the float pull clip). The best...

    Anybody know this Max Wedge?

Dave, Does the Greg Lane's Max Wedge and Race Hemi Pages still work? I tried the listed e-mail address and it came back. I've tried www.maxwedge.com to no avail. I'm looking to buy some of the his listed publications. Any help is appreciated... BOB RENTON

    Anybody know this Max Wedge?

Real nice clone....why would anyone want to put headers, other than the max wedge cast iron type (would have been nice to have the 4-2-1 cast iron tr1-Y unuts) and all the accessories including the re-plumbed aluminum radiator. Guessing it does not have the 3705S Carters either. Probably a...

Uncle Tony Finds an Unrestored '63 Dodge Max Wedge!

To say he (Uncle Tony or "shoes") is not a smart guy is a gross understatement. To allow a unique vehicle to deterriorate is unconscionable. To reiterate, "a picture is worth a thousand words" and "what you see is what you get" definitely applies and in this case is zero. BOB RENTON

Uncle Tony Finds an Unrestored '63 Dodge Max Wedge!

VERY TRUE... "Uncle Tony" and his buddy "shoes" exhibit the exact same attitude as you noted. Why not sell the car and parts and but the money in the stock market (now is a great time to buy selectively) rather than watch it turn to nothing.....but perhaph they just don't understand....??? BOB...

Uncle Tony Finds an Unrestored '63 Dodge Max Wedge!

I believe there is a difference between the Carter 3705S and Carter 3705SA carbs. The 3705SA was considered the "bigger" at 770 CFM snd the 3705S was considered the "smaller" at ~ 750 CFM. The Holley R-3116 used on the Hemi was rated at 770-780 CFM. Just my opinion of course. BOB RENTON

Uncle Tony Finds an Unrestored '63 Dodge Max Wedge!

My info shows the 3447S is used on the '62 413 Stage I MW and also on the '63 426 Stage II MW. And the 3705SA used on the '64 426 Stage III MW. The 3705A was used on the 426 Hemi early production then changed to the Holley R3116 770 CFM carbs.....but, I'm sure open to discussion... Any chance...

Uncle Tony Finds an Unrestored '63 Dodge Max Wedge!

QUESTIONS.... Who is "Uncle Tony" and what is his claim to fame? Why is Uncle Tony's shoes being shown? The "small" Carter 3447S carbs noted, were on the Stage II 426 MW engine for 1964. Second question is: Where is the car located? Third question is: Is it for sale as well as all the...
