Lol, in my case I wish the 80's Cordoba's didn't have six's...thinking more economical for the family. My dad made the same mistake about 20 years earlier; he bought a six Comet...think he tolerated it for 6 months and gone.
Liked the body style of the ’80 Cordoba and the new Mirada. One I had was well appointed with leather, buckets, floor shift, etc. but oh…the six. Lol, maybe one I had was the only one with a six in it. When I worked at a machine shop, the two owners leased them when they came out I think in ‘75...
Have a list of the worst cars I bought and both Cordoba’s I bought are on it…a 76 I think having some goofy plug-in computer lean-burn command center and an ’80. On the fair side, the ’76 was beat to chit which I should have paid more attention to getting a ‘deal’ on it in early ‘80’s. That...
Amazing what some people will pay; but it’s about the rides they like. A Charlie’s Angels Mustang for $55k, when I saw a pristine ’67 GTO vert sell for the same price not long ago? To each their own.
Johnny Mac - appreciate the like from this old-old post I forgot about. Seems to me now that I have the poly rebuild in some 3 years now, I would have preferred to go with my original instincts to install the crate. While the motor runs fine despite having some issues with cooling I wrestled...
Sort of reminds me of vapor lock but you say car starts right back up that's not the usual case with lock until some cool down. Ya got some good tips with the check for fuel squirt in the throat and possible accelerator pump issue. Could also be bad fuel pump that's a pretty simple and...
Assume you did some simple stuff 1st like new fuel filter and might see if that carb has an internal cup/screen filter (my old carb did that was half clogged) some do and don't. When you say gas/oil vapors you confronted what did you do on that?
Interesting comments about prices going up even pre-75. This is contrary to some others (and on the forum) saying older classic/muscle cars are going to be a glut as older boomers and some of those left from pre-boomers die off. The traits of millennials are opposite the prior two generations...
Impressive thanks for sharing! It's not the money outlay between what I've been tossing around btw the poly rebuild or the 408 as the cost will end up about the same far as I can estimate now. It's obviously going to be a lot more power with the crate; but do I need it for my '63 Fury drop...
I picked up on a crate motor from Blueprint Engine (Chrysler 408) posted on another thread saying it's a real deal. This is the motor for $3,995. Of course probably looking at another $1 to 1.5k getting intake, carb, manifolds, etc. A well reputed Mopar engine shop says they couldn't come...
