    Carb needs vacuum

I think the reason they geta bad rap is because you caint feel them "kick in". .....and if you can they are not tuned properly.

    Carb needs vacuum

That's correct, but Lew hit the nail on the head. The vacuum secondaries are not really operated on manifold vacuum. They are operated on the air rushing through the rear venturis on the carburetor. Technically, that's a little different. If it WAS operated on manifold vacuum, the secondaries...

    Carb needs vacuum

Did he actually say it wouldn't work the vacuum secondaries? Dammit. Who are they hiring these days? What a moron. It will work fine. No need for a vacuum can. You'll see.

    Carb needs vacuum

The vacuum secondaries will operate fine. The engine has to be under a load to produce the kind of vacuum it takes to open them. Use whichever carburetor you want, it will run fine.

Holley power valve blow out help help

It's not going to make a diffecence whether the pcv is attached to the carburetor base or the intake. They are both the same vacuum source. Oil will not make it run rich anyway, it will simply smoke. Plus, as long as the pcv valve is properly baffled at the valve cover, you'll not get any oil in...

Scored a "virgin" thermoquad at the U pull, now what?

Post a pic of it from the front. 1 3/8 primaries is an 800 1 1/2 is an 850. It should be an 850.

    Carburetor Cleaner

Well I went with a non MEK and non sodium chloride based cleaner this time. I'm hoping with heat it will do a good job.

Well I picked up some degreaser today. Got home emptied my old carburetor cleaner, rinsed the bucket out good and got all the crud off the bottom. Dumped in one gallon of degreaser and noticed an immediate puddle on the floor. The crud in the bottom was coverin up a rust hole. I swear, if it's...

    Carburetor Cleaner

Thanks for that. I will certainly be careful. Especially since I am already one down in the eye department now. I don't want it boiling, but it would probably work well if it was close.
