I got all the seals comin from RockAuto for 23 bucks.

I chucked up my steel cuttin fiber wheel on my miter saw and it hacked off an 1/8" of axle like it was hot butter. Now all I gotta do is dress a bevel on it and open the splines back up on the end. Nuffin to it.

After closer inspection, the driver's axle was not bottomed out. From my best estimate, it looks like they need shortened 1/8" on each side. Have any of yall done this? Does that sound about right? I got no problem doing it and have the stuff to get it done. Thanks.

I know. It fit too. Best I can figure is this was an original sure grip unit. Somebody swapped it out.

I tried one of the axles back in today with the sure grip installed. It fits.

Right. I may have to shorten the axles a little. That's ok. I got a wiz wheel for the miter saw.

I got my 4.56 chunk swapped in today and my replacement axle will be here Monday. Not sure if my axles will work with the sure grip chunk thrust block or not, but I will hack some off the axles if need be.

Yeah me too. I was absolutely NOT gonna swap rear ends. Also.....get this. I found out that this could well BE the original rear axle for this car. There were some 65 cars that got it. Not that I care about that......but I gotta use what I have. I should have my 4.56 sure grip in in a day or two...

That's too bad because I would love to have an extra one.

I got the axles out today. They came right out with a few light taps with the slide hammer. I also found a replacement axle for the driver's side. woohoo.

You should make sure it's not an aluminum block before you give it away.

The axle I need is 30 1/2" btw.

It appears that I am going to need an axle For my Coronet. It's a 65, but has the early tapered axle rear end in it. The threads on the end of the driver's side axle are messed up beyond repair. My machine shop says they are hardened and the although he can build it back up and cut new threads...
