I was told that my 68 charger R/T 440 4 spd car would have come with chrome valve covers. True / False or maybe under certain circumstances? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I had this happen on a GTX in the 80s. I went to a transmission / machine shop for help. They suggested what Bib Bad Dad suggested. I measured the inside dia on the piolet hole in the crank and he trimmed the bussing a 0.003" pinch fit I believe (how am I remember that). To get the old one...
So if you are going to build an engine and it sits for a year, do you pop off the intake and valley pan and lube the cam up before start up? Have not had to let one sit for that long but might have to.
You can contact the Chrysler historical services. They have all the IBM punch cards up thru the 67 model year that were used to create the fender tags. Someone tossed all the cards from 68 model year on  so no good for me. Good luck!
When you say pre 68 do you mean the calender year or model year? Those Galen books say pad start on 68 but doesn't state calender or model year. Trying to clear up a conversation with a friend on this topic. Thanks.
Welcome! Auto trans cranks are normally not drilled out for the bushing. I had this issue on a GTX in high school way back when. You can take your new bushing on a lathe and cut it dow to a .003" pinch fit to the hole you have in the crank. That is what I did. Or swap out the auto crank for...
Interesting info. I saw a block recently that had an 8 after the 440 where this one had a P. What would the 8 mean? Also on the id pad it has a C all by its self. Any idea on that one? Thanks.
Looking in my service manual (pic below) I'm trying to identify the correct driveshaft for my 68 Charger R/T 440 4spd with a Dana. My question is: does the driveshaft suppose to have the inertia ring on the front of the shaft? Of course my shaft is the only one in the book without a comment...
I understand there are two lengths of snubbers for a Dana 60. I have a 68 charger and want to know which one it requires? I believe it is the shorter one? Car was built in December of 67 if that makes a difference.
While I’m a little ways away from painting my engine I’ve been doing a bit of research on paint color for my 68 Charger R/T. I’ve found several websites that offer opinions (that contradict each other) but nothing definite until I found the Hamtramck Registry. The service bulleting 25-1 from...
The notch is missing on my car due to a frame repair that was performed. Can someone please provide me with the dimensions of the three points of the V notch from the edge of the frame just in front of the V notch? A picture with dimensions would be most appreciated. Thanks!
I have a 68 dodge charger R/T with a 440 4spd. I have found the following carbs for sale and would like to know if any would be the correct carb for my car? Carter AFB part number L7 4759 S
Carter Avs part number 4064 S
Carter AFB part number 4171 S
Carter AVS part number 4840S
If not what...
Hi,
I have this shifter handle (see pics) that was in a box of parts for my car but have no idea what it came from. Any ideas? Please let me know if you have an idea. Also looking to sell it since it's not needed.
Thanks,
Paul
Correct-a-moon-doe! I can see a smile forming on it already knowing it’s going home. The axel still measures 44 inches center to center on the spring perches. Thanks for the help!
