    Detonation?

Cold air holds more oxygen, leaning the AF ratio.

Gas smell - wifey no likey

Eat a big bowl of chili and wash it down with cheap beer and then take wifey for a spin. She won't be able to smell the gaaoline. Don't forget to check the fuel pump. It could be leaking externally and evaporating quickly so you won't notice.

Recommended drive shaft for oil and fuel pump?

Since you have a Melling oil pump why not a Melling shaft/gear? Rock Auto has em and might even come with a new bushing. The one for my 92 318 did.

I think I've had it with my hydraulic roller cam

You may have been hearing the injectors firing and mistaking it for lifter noise.

    Anyone running E-85 fuel?

I dunno for sure, I never tuned the carbs. But when on E100 it used about three times the fuel and washed down the rings so badly it would fill the oil sump with fuel. Nitro methane drag engines are on the verge of hydrolocking they are so rich and pretty much turn into Diesels. Engines running...

    Anyone running E-85 fuel?

To take full advantage of E85 you do need to increase jetting and compression. And E85 is "wet", meaning it carries some water along with it. Fuel mielage will suffer. When I helped a friend with his dirt cars we had a gas carb and an alky carb. The alky carb was almost 3x richer. Messes with...

    Recommendations?

Does the engine need to be bored out or is this something you want? If it's something you want but are on a pay as you go type budget, I would leave the bore as is. Wait until a bore is needed. Now, that leaves cam, intake/carb and heads. Intake/carb and heads are the easiest. Dont know how much...

    What Purpose did these serve

They reduce brake chatter. Drums are shaped like a bell and will "ring"at a certain frequency. The spring changes that frequency.

Finned vs Non Finned Brake Drums

Look at the amount of weight on the finned drum in the OP. It's almost half the circumference. A tire with much less would be considered junk.

Finned vs Non Finned Brake Drums

Looks like the only added weight on the finned drum are the balance weights. That's a crap casting if it needs that kind of weight. The last drums I bought for the Dakota were Raybestos....made in China....needed turning out of the box. O'Reilly's turns drums/rotors. Oh yeah...finned is more...

    What makes a 440 a magnum?

Dodge didnt start using Magnum nomenclature until later in the 60s. The 426W had already been discontinued.

    What makes a 440 a magnum?

If it ain't a Magnum and has a 4 barrel it would be correct. Put the Magnum pie plate on it and, voila! You have extra hp! Kinda like chrome valve covers and anything chrome. Mo power.

    72 Charger hidden headlight problem

IIRC (my pornographic memory isn't what it used to be) on my 72 the covers would drop but the lights remained on. Wiggling the HL switch would make the doors go up and down so I manually opened them until I got a new switch. Replaced the old one and all was well.

    Unicorns do exist! 1970 Charger R/T !

Lots of things happened in the St. Louis (Fenton) plant (and likely others) back then. My brother worked there right about then.
