    Slight gas smell on oil dipstick

    If you can, check the pressure from the fuel pump. I had a similar issue some years back with a new fuel pump. Checked the pressure and found that the 'new' pump was putting out 11 lbs of pressure. Way too much. Change the pump again and solved the problem.

    New fuel tank and filler tube. The grommet is TOO tight to insert the tube!

    My filler neck and tank are original. Got a new gasket from DMT and though it was a PITA to get the neck inserted (had to twist back and forth in a very confined space between the tank and body) it did go in, with no lubricant. I've had good luck with DMT.

    ‘66 Plymouth is probably different but along with the filler neck hose there is a vent hose from the tank just above where the filler neck goes in.
