    I've never fired soft tip rounds trough mine, afraid the tip my get deformed during feeding from the clip and affect the ballistics. Have you ever noticed anything like that? Maybe the odd round that flies off on it's own or something like that?

    Your Father and those like him are considered "Giants" by the guys I hung out with and consider my brothers, during my time on active duty.     You will love it! I have a springfield armory, garand (NM grade) and I wouldn't sell it for anything. They have a little weight to them but it fits just right and man do they shoot straight. Congrats and enjoy!
