When I set mine up I was told you want 1/8" (that's with the converter pressed fully into the trans), which is what I had. The issue you want to avoid is pulling the converter so far out (to mate to the flex plate) that you don't have good engagement with the pump. I think you'll be OK, but...

Thanks again for all the info, I was totally in the dark on this system and it's effect on shifting/trans functioning. I'm just now getting ready to set up the cable for the throttle pressure, and this last nugget is just what I needed. :thumbsup:

Right on, I'm with you on all the specs. My question came from the fear of pulling the threads out of a cast aluminum intake. But, looking at the record of lifts/installs you have (including an elephant and trans) with plates, I have to figure as long as the thread engagement isn't sloppy and...
What if the intake is aluminum? I have an aluminum intake on my 400, so I went head to head. Just curious if anyone lifts with a plate on an aluminum intake?
I couldn't agree with you any more. I asked the question just because I remembered someone said something bad about not having the kick down hooked up/and or properly adjusted. Sooo! glad I asked, I would have done a test drive thinking it was no big deal and could be done later.
The trans was prep'd (not by me) for racing (good parts) but it is still set up to function as it came from the factory. So, I'm thinking I'll get the kit with throttle and kick down cables.
Question for the trans pros: Do I need to have the kick-down connected and adjusted for a car that will only run 1/4-1/8 mile at a time (no street duty)? I saw a post a while back that said a 727 can be destroyed if it's run without the kick-down set up right, I don't remember what the OP was...
