Excellent point. NEVER lift thru the scoop. And, you've described the physical technique quite accurately: wide stance balancing it in the waist while lifting both sides. Yep, I can still do it. :thumbsup:
You CAN remove the hood from the front, by yourself, and you need room around to place the hood on a secure surface. But re-installing can get dicey. You need to place a soft material around the opening perimeter and slowly guide the hood in place. It's best with two people. There used to be...
The condition could very well be due to carb/float/sloshing issues. But, as I've said and seen all too often over the years, don't go directly to the other side of the bridge without figuring out how to get over it. Meaning, why go through changing this or that, only to see zero results...
Hemi K is different, it has its own unique mount plates. I sold a few nos hemi k' s a few years ago, they were worth good $. The regular 8 cyl k, only a few hundred. The creating and shipping is a killer, only the nos or mint members were worth it to buyers. Good luck with your sale.
It's simple. It won't have the value of an original drive train. Then again, many cars won't since we beat the hell outta these cars back then. So what. It's still the best street muscle car of the era in my view.
I use 1/2" pipe. Weld a set of threaded pins on top, so you can adjust. Drill a hole on the bottom side to line up with the holes on the car's pins, so you can push the clips through to secure the rods with another set of clips which you'll bend slightly to wrap around the steel pipe.
