THere are till some body guys that put the filler directly to CLEAN metal. Since epoxy sticsk to anything and is also great sealer, I venture to say, most modern guys will appy the epoxy primr, and filler over that. Remember filler tend to absorb moistirem it the nature of it.
I will just say, buy the highest quality filler you can afford. Easier to sand, better finish. I use a fiberglass reinforced filler is certain instances, It tends to have waterproof properties. Hard to sand and you do not want to breath it for sure.
I have not bought any since last...
Nice work. And make it just as nice as YOU require it to be!
Every time YOu accomplish some body/paint work, there should be the sound of a cash register in your head going "Ca-ching!!!!!"
Epox yover the filer is a sealer for that bondo. My way but maybe not necessary at all! NO I never try to sand epoxy. Some epoxys are somewhat sandable though.
Southern Urethanes is a great source of materials and tech.
They sell a very limited choice of topcoat, but if you check it out, you will find recommendations for color of sealer for several popular colors. Like said, there are reason for such advice.
The color of primer under the topcoat will/ or should I say can have a bearing on the tone of topcoat. Just fact. I guess if you applied 10 coats maybe not!
Paint should not be 1/2 inc thick!!!!!
People love the bc/cc, to wet sand with multiple grades, and buff. People don't relate to single stage so much, BUT that white no metallic it can also be wet sanded and buffed slick. No orange peel. People like the depth of clear, Then you do need...
I first saw BodySchultz back about !1987. I was just getting into the old Mopars and my second Mpar car I ran into was pretty decent AAR Cuda. I had a young guy that worked in the local small town body shop do the car in his garage after hours. He replace a qtr that had already been replace...
I used Body Schultz the first time about 1990. Not sure when "bedliner" first came out, but BS must be a type of urethane??? It does set up hard.
Back in the 90's I went to Mopar Nats every year and couple times to Carlisle. Back then the highest regarded cars were those restored to exactly...
I understand your point. I also have to wonder IF a bedliner material will not have the same discolaration of the OEM type undercoat? If the underside is ride of any rust, a good epoxy primer ( several coats) and a good acrylic urethane should be very durable for a cruiser. If a car is...
I also admit to just using bedliner or similiar product on floors and use NO carpet same with inside of roof! Works for me. I drive em, not show em. Make em perfect if ya like!
I like epoxy primer then Body Schultz. Here is the thing, IF you ever go to sell it you will have some that demand painted show type shiny bottom and others that appreciate the durability of any undercoat. BUT every Dick will always say " wonder what is under that bedliner/undercoat"...
AMD is pure as snow a compared to some of the sorry stuff!!! I agree. And... I can buy a sheet of 18 ga.plate and it is better metal. But everything is Tx is great!!!LOL I fab a lot of my floor pans and other patches.
