We all do what we have too do in this life
i save some cars, the work has saved my sanity at times, maybe. They give some pleasure in fixing the rust, getting them running, maybe some shiny paint on maybe a not perfect canvas. I enjoy it all. I am old and now woreout, my days are numbered...
Yes I leke the lesser cost car!
A perfect car will never remain perfect IF you drive it. Then you will probably be pissed.
A car is meant to be driven, otherwise it is just garage art!
I have restored some good examples to perfect, every nut an bolt deals way back a couple decades ago. I...
A Mopar bud of mine bought a new 70 RR 3 on floor because his dad would not let him get a four speed. 3 days later he changed it out, always took off in 2 nd when his dad was close. lol
I admit I have been restoring. playing with these old Mopars since the mid 80's. I was driving the real deal back in the 60s. The hobby was fun when I started, few resto parts but good projects/drivers were relatively cheap and plentiful. Boneyards everywhere with old stuff.
Lots of...
I been restoring Mopars since mid 80's and I bought 95% of my parts from local guy Harden's back then. I NEVER bought from Year One unless it was something I had to have and they were the only vendor. Their BS was buy $1000 of parts from them and get a what was it 10% discount. I told them...
We have been brainwashed with buying from the net. I still call and look and shop for parts and supplies.. I agree CI, YearOne both suck. Rock Auto is terrible sending parts from 4 diff. locations!!!!!
My rule of thmb is never put time /money into these cars unless I would love to keep it forever. Hard to restore a car and sell it and get your $ back, even IF you can do al the work. Maybe I am wrong. Maybe everyone else is smarter than me!!!!!
My crystal ball mentioned to me that, since the rise of the "musclecar" market of the 80's, the market has risen and fell several times. Also sometimes Mopars are hot and other times NOT.
Used to be a second gen. Charger was worth bout what a 68-70 Runner,Bee, GTX/RT would bring. Today...
The whole process is matching ( finding) the right buyer for the right car. Wife is a R/E agent out here in the sticks of Tx Same with R/E, matching the buyer to the property. There are some similarities. Like overprice that r/e and you run off a lot of potential buyers, that never seem to...
It takes looking. Back years past I did a lot of cars. These cars are just my fun now days but back then I could call some Mopar buds, local to 600 mi away, and in an hour I usually found what I was looking for, at a fair price and even less. If my friend did not have it he had a friend that...
^^^^^ all so true. Here is the kicker. Guy pays Mark Worman $75000 (or more) to do the nut and bolt resto. Then later guy wants to sell but all his buyers tell him that 68 Charger RT 440 car is NOT worth what he has in it.
OR..Guy does his own work, does it right, does it flawless...
I look at what cars actually sell, and what they are and where they are, makes a difference. Are they RT cars or 318 cars, are they totally restored.
Sounds like maybe you have a typical car that need body/paint. Is interior perfect a or needs it all.
Chargers have been hot in a...
