Did a search for this but couldn't find anything: On lots of photos posted here of 71-74 Road Runners/Satellites/GTXs, the hood is popped up half an inch or more at the right rear (driver's side) corner at the windshield. Mine is the same - I have to give it a push down to make it lay flat...
I've got pretty much the identical situation that 1970GTX describes, even the "got worse after taking it off" part. Sure would be nice to have a Fixit guide explain how to salvage the mirror....
If you look at pix online of the trunks of these cars, many of them, even the pristine show winners, will show that rough texture - this was pretty much a standard Mopar "feature." I've always guessed it was to keep trunk contents from scratching the paint from the inside and creating rust...
I live on a dirt road, luckily only have to drive one block before pavement starts, but I can hear the rocks creating little rust farms underneath even at 5mph. Undercoating is a good idea. Gonna put it on my to-do list before winter storage.
Meguiar's makes a "smooth surface clay kit" to clean old paint like detailers can - some of those clay-bar cleanup vids on YouTube are pretty impressive.
Standard. Use it on everything: cars, BBQ grills, hammock stands... But because it's so damned thick I buy it in half pint cans for less waste since the can lid is basically welded shut the second time.
