    what does numbers matching mean

Since the original engine is long gone, I would keep the 340, but dress it up as a mild mannered ‘74 318. That’s what I’m doing with my 66 Cuda, stroker 340 dressed up like a 273 2bbl motor.

    Barn finds?

Oh the stories I could tell. One of last years saves…. My buddies Grandpa died in 1967, they drove his car in the barn, and there it sat until I was commissioned to remove it and find it a new home. All done, gone to a good home, the guy had it running and on the road in less than a weeks time...

    Many questions, few solutions.

If I get called out on an answer I give that I think is right, I always admit my mistake, and we all learn from it. What I see sometimes is that I see people giving good advise, but the OP will only answer to the answers they want to hear, which most times is not the correct answer. You can’t...

    Hypothetical VIN question:

But those were not all produced at the same plant, multiple plants means multiple sequential repeats, but at different plants. Since the VIN reflects the plant in the characters, even tho every plant uses the same sequential system, the plant letter in the VIN settles that overlap.

    Hypothetical VIN question:

My belief also is….that is the reason that the VIN system was changed from 14 digits to 17, they are producing way more cars now than they did in the 60’s/70’s

    Hypothetical VIN question:

I’m almost sure the sequence number is just that, a sequential number, meaning that they are consecutive. It starts out as 100001 at most plants and goes up from there. What changes randomly is the car it’s assigned to, meaning 100002 is given to the next order logged, whether it be a Superbee...

    Hypothetical VIN question:

It’s an article posted here in the wing car section. It’s entitled “how the Superbird was made” or something like that.

    Hypothetical VIN question:

Nope, nothing about any of that, just the vin and the assembly month and year.

    Hypothetical VIN question:

My door sticker says 9-69, and that’s all. My SPD is A01, October 1st.

    Hypothetical VIN question:

None of the numbers are set in stone. The scheduled production date is the day the car is scheduled to be produced, but that doesn’t mean it was assembled in rust day, but to the plant it did not matter, it was a date already assigned. They wouldn’t have gone back and changed a number already...

Have you ever cut up a car with a sawzall?

After I strip them of every little part that I can, I take the shell in for scrap price. And, I’ll sweep up all the rust from the trailer and get a couple extra pounds from that too!

Have you ever cut up a car with a sawzall?

Sharp eyed viewers will recognize that almost unrecognizable 69 Mach 1 Mustang in the trailer. She was as rough as I’ve seen. Bonus, it came out of the swamp in 3 pieces!

Have you ever cut up a car with a sawzall?

Around here I’m kind of the king of parting out cars. I’ve used every single thing at my disposal to chop up cars, from sawzalls, hammer and chisel, torches, you name it. Then Hops told me to use a diamond wheel in a Metabo grinder and it was a game changing moment. It buzzes right through most...

    Whats everyone working on?

It’s not a B body, but I’m helping my son with his new project. We have long had our eye on this truck, sitting all forlorn since the original owner passed away. Got the call about a month ago that the daughter would like Ian to have it. We’re heading out to change the fuel pump after dinner...

Need help to locate my Engine ID number Chrysler 1964 361

You won’t find the vin on a pre-68 block, they just didn’t do that until 68, and even then it was hit and miss. That is a 69 and later deal

741 Case Worth Making Sure Grip?

Max Wedge cars used the 657 rear end, which is exactly the same as the 741. It was the only rear available in 63 and 64, until the 742 came out, and of course the Dana for Hemi cars. 741’s have withstood dozens of neutral drops from push button Max Wedge cars, that was the preferred launch back...

1st Time moving under its own power in nearly 50 years.

I’m absolutely in love with the car and it’s story, and I’m glad it’s now in good hands. I would love to see pics of the family the day you return for them to see it on the road. May I ask….where did those rims come from? They’re awesome!
