    Street Racing Confession(s)

WOW! I final got to the latest entry #150. I can't wait for more 'confessions'. I can still hear the cop saying "We heard you, we know you were racing, but we did not see you, had we seen you, you would be going to jail tonight, licence and registration please". I had eleven cop cars surrounding...

    How do you do burnouts?

Not one bit. I just ran The Circuit in town block to block light to light against anything and anybody. Sometimes the ''race'' went a distance, sometimes it was over before we got though the intersection. The ''race'' was not over till one of the two drivers let off. I never let off. My longest...

    How do you do burnouts?

I had fun with my 383 on the streets in the late '70's early '80's. Direct Connection electronic ignition, Accel super coil and 8mm wires, 2 Carter AFB 4 bbls, Gaberial adjustable 40/60, 50/50, 60/40 shocks up front, set up for a fast rise and a slow drop, Solid steel motor mounts, Winters...

    How do you do burnouts?

Burnout residue or just leftovers from many hot summer nights of street racing. The funny part of one night in the late '70s was...I was maybe 10 cars back from the intersection, after doing a burnout (some called it Power Braking back then and yes I do have a Winters built Automatic tranny) at...

    Dragway42 Shooting

The problem for me may not be at the Drag Strip, it's getting to it and back home again, and I am not going to leave it in the glove box.

    SS springs too short.

Around here, back in the days (1978), the cops would pull you over and measure how high your rear bumper was from the road. To high and you got a ticket. I'm not sure anymore what the too high measurement was to be. My yard stick still lays on the rear package tray. They were looking at the air...

    Street Racers, Racing Secrets ?!!

Scanners and CBs, helped to keep the Law off your tail. What I've been reading here seem like there was nothing secret to what I've done back in the late seventies early eighties. It was intercity street racing, light to light or rolling start and ended whenever someone decided to give up. It...

    What engine oil to use?

She's an old engine and I also have a friend real close by that sell this. I also hear that engines will leak though gaskets quicker with synthetic oils. I don't know how true. .

    FLIPPING MY ALTERNATOR BELT

Just a suggestion, the older belt could have been worn thinner then the new belt. Are the two pulleys lined up right? Any chance you could go to a thinner 3L belt? And there is a spray on belt dressing to make the belts stop slipping, this does work.

The body is gone, Jere's sprit will live on every time a Stahl headers equipped motor is fired up. RIP Jere.

I'm out of Racing indefinitely. I'm a mess.

My heart skipped more then a beat when I read this, sorry guys for your losses, well not as much for the Camaro but still, I cut up my lifts this morning and sold them for scrap. I'm glade you were not injured or worse. I'm sure you were not thinking straight when you first posted this tragedy...
