Yes, there is definitely a difference. 3 spd is by itself as well as 63 which used a Borg Warner 4 spd. Then came the New Process 4 spd in 64 which has an even different bolt up pattern. Early 3 speeds were a New Process A745.
One might want to check for a hairline crack in head near your leak area. I had a similar situation once and had to replace head because of a hairline crack near exhaust mounting bolt hole. Don't know if you had heads magna fluxed before rebuild, but it is possible they missed it.
Schumacker (spelling?) I believe took over Imperial Services (at least the cable part), I got mine from them. They have the cable shown in picture. They may also have the mount you need.
By the looks of the dish on your valve stems. I'd say start from scratch, with all new valves and the correct locks. Be sure to check valve stem height or length before assembly(not talking about spring height) , unless you are using adj. push rods or rockers. If to long will hold valves open...
Better Seal
I have never had any luck with the later MP seals. The last motor i did i used Dvorak Machine's seal, worked awesome. Just Google Dvorak, he's in Fla. or call 352-468-1353 (not cheap, but they work). 440 Source also has the Viton side seals. :glasses2:
