    Help me pick a distributor!

It's been a very busy spring, so just now getting into the garage to put in some work. Install was very easy. Out with the old, in with the new. I have 440 Source heads and the distributor is very close, but there's no interference. Getting the app running is also simple, just enter your...

    Help me pick a distributor!

Thanks all, I decided to go with the progression unit. Will report back once I have some time to tinker with it.

    Help me pick a distributor!

"Idle Speed Ignition Advance The more vacuum an engine pulls at idle, the more rarefied the charge is as the piston approaches TDC on the firing stroke. The lower the cylinder compression pressure at the time of ignition, the slower the charge burns. This calls for more advance, so that the...

    Help me pick a distributor!

40 degrees of total advance (base+vacuum) at idle. I'm currently running 20 base with 12 from the MSD vacuum advance. Ideally I'd like to get back to 15 deg base with 25 vacuum for 40 total. When I adjusted advance with a vacuum gauge, I was getting 12.5" max around 37-42 degrees.

    Help me pick a distributor!

I have a 440 currently running an MSD Pro Billet distributor with MSD-AL2. It has a pretty big cam (Comp XE285-HL; 241/247 @ 0.050, 0.545 lift). Manifold vacuum tops out around 12.5" at 40 deg advance at idle. Over the summer I was having some issues with running too rich at idle. Some great...

    Retro Stereos

It's an aux input for 3.5mm audio connectors. It's for nerds that want to play vinyl records while they drive. Plug in your turntable and go! Can also be used with Zune and 1st gen iPods. Or anything else that plays sounds and has a 3.5mm output jack.

    Retro Stereos

I bought a Retrosound unit and honestly don't like it much at all. Sound quality isn't great but not terrible, but the fit and finish of the unit is pretty awful, and the bluetooth features are not the best compared to other modern units. For the price, it was an unfortunate mistake. I'm...

    Holley Sniper and Hyperspark

This is the age-old debate about ammeter bypass. Many people don't like the idea of all the charging current going through the bulkhead connector (twice) and the ammeter. Many other people will tell you that it's fine so long as you have clean contacts. A modern alternator can easily triple...

has anyone used american autowire update kit ?

FWIW, I used their kit on my '68 and it was pretty easy for someone that hadn't done much of any wiring before. Instructions were great, new connectors for everything except the wiper motor.

    Holy wiring nightmare

You can do it, just take your time. That fusible link looks pretty rough, even if you don't redo all that wiring right away, consider swapping the fusible link asap.

    Battery Electrical

Current is probably fine, as Don mentioned you're getting heat at the connector because there is high resistance there, or perhaps it was arcing to the block at some point. Start with redoing that connection and a rubber boot over it is extra insurance.

    Battery Electrical

Sounds like you may have more than one issue, so let's take them one at a time. What year and is it auto or manual? If auto, is it in park or neutral? 1) You are getting power to the bulkhead connector, so that's good. 2) Cabin light is on constant power, so it should work all the time. Not...

    68 Charger fender marker lights

The parking light housings in my car are different front to rear. I know the car was in a front end collision many years ago, so I don't know if these are all original to the car. Here are some pics showing the differences. The fronts screw apart and the light socket does not remove from the...

    68 Charger fender marker lights

Hm yea that seems to be the issue. Thanks for the link. Strange that they would use 2 different kinds of housings, but I guess because one is protected in the trunk vs. the exposed one in the fender?

    68 Charger fender marker lights

Do these things come apart so that I can remove/install bulbs without taking the whole assembly out of the fender? I was able to do it easily on the sockets in the rear quarters, but these are seriously stuck in there. I've tried prying where they look like they should come apart with...

    Soldering Butt Connectors

When starting soldering it's sometimes quite hard to get everything to sit in place when you're dealing with wires, soldering iron solder, etc. Consider getting some 'helping hands' to keep stuff in place and let you focus on just the iron and solder...

Looking for install instructions for the electric headlight door conversion

I just placed an order from Herb's Parts for the Charger Specialties headlight door upgrade. They are 4-6 weeks out, no big deal. I asked if they could send the instructions, but it sounds like they are in a bit of transition from Charger Specialties getting bought out, and didn't have any...
