I need help, what is the best way to remove the vent window assembly on my 2 door sedan 65 coronet! I found 2 almost new ones and do not know where to start. Also looking for a shop to set up my dana 60 rearend up. I have all the parts just need to find a good shop to do the work , I live in...
A question for you, How much fitting for your fenders did you have to do? I picked my new set from Larry about 2 weeks ago, and I have a lot of fitting and sanding to get them to fit. How did you mount them, I used 1/8 x 1 wide metal with sert- nuts so I could use the factory holes. Thanks John
Have you got a mounting kit for it yet? I have one from Mancini if you want it, I did not have room for it with my lower hose on the passenger side and the shock tower in the way
looks like your motor plate is 3/8 like mine, I got a 165 amp alternator from Powermasters, made up a template of it and marked the plate so it would fit. Cut out where I marked and it fits Powermaster was smaller than a stock one You will need a high output one also. With all the electronics .
Looks great, I have a question about support for the steering shaft . On my 65 AFX car I used a bushing that went into the end steering tube . A friend of mine made a few of them . Was going to use a bearing but this works much better.
The shifter in my 65 is a push down hurst . You put the shifter in neutral and push down on the stick and pull it over to the left and it will go into reverse , pull it back and it will pop up into neutral, pull it to the left and push it into first gear , when going into second gear keep...
I have a 1965 Coronet , used a Hurst push down shifter with the rear location bracket . You can still find then on ebay . Used a 7 inch handle for a mustang and this places the shifter up close and near my bench seat . Took off the straight stick . First pic is with the straight stick then next...
Locar comes with every thing you would need to use their cable . Here is what I did using my old petal.
First I welded a washer to the old petal and drilled it out to fit the Locar cable .
Then I cut the old cable off and used the clip and threaded my new cable into it.
Using the nut and lock...
Went to Person County drag strip in 1967, Billy West was in a wheel stand contest with a 55 chevy with the motor set in the front seat. He would stand the car up and walk it down the strip real slow and set it down. At the time they used a flag man to run the races. His name was Red and he got...
Bill I worry about parallel parking to, when I moved the top clam shells forward I I placed them at 9 1/2 forward to get more caster to make the car go straight without darting everywhere when you get up some speed. The first serous car I built was a 1972 Colt. Pro street was hot at the...
Bill how is the handling with the straight axel? I used to jack my cars up in the 60's to look like the AFX cars, they were all over the place and would go thru a set of tires quickly. I never tried the axel up front .
Look up the 2 builds and see what and how I did it . I moved the k member in the 65 build and I used a pinto cross member and used narrowed upper and lower arms on it. A pinto set up type steering is one of the best set up for street rods.
I sold the 66 cuda to a friend but I have a 65 AFX coronet I am still working on . The 66 car is on the A Bodies Only web site under Old Mans 66 Cuda Funnycar build page 7 . The 65 car is in For Bodies only under 1965 AFX Coronet . It gets harder everyday to work on them I am 73 years old .
