I was looking at a Belvedere II a while back and thinking to myself that "those tubs are HUGE". But being a " body, the measurements should be the same as any other B body of that vintage. Also, the II isn't a very popular model so I wouldn't be taking people's "guesses" as gospel, pull a wheel...
Post a photo. Those are a little short (in my opinion). I'm pushing the 325/50's - because they're wider they're also a tad taller. The 295/50's are only 26.8" tall with a 12.2" cross section. The 325's are 28.3" tall and 13" in the cross section. With close to an inch more thread. But the...
Aw c'mon, cut the guys some slack ... even though BACKspacing should have been a giveaway ! And look at it on the bright side ... he wasn't asking what + or - "offset" is (that's metric for you 'mericans)!
Keep in mind the wheel width is measured INSIDE lip to lip. But the backspacing measurement includes the lip.
So ... if you measure a 10" wheel it will be 11" wide outside to outside. And if it has 5-1/2" backspacing (advertised) it will measure 5-1/2" from the outside edge of the back rim to...
I bought the above wheels from a guy who had them on a stock Charger (68-70). As best as I could tell the rear end was untouched and he was using wheel spacers - probably 1/2". Chargers are considerably wider than Plymouths
The drawing below (not to scale) depicts a 69 B-body Plymouth rear end "stock" measurements. The wheel tire combo is a 10" wheel (11" outside to outside) with 5-1/2" backspacing. The tire is what would normally be installed on a 10" wheel so it has roughly a 13" cross section. With a stock rear...
In hindsight ... I bought these wheels/tires from a guy with a Charger and I got a set of wheel spacers with them. So from this I conclude that the inside might be an issue BUT there will be plenty of room on the outside. The spacers are 1/2" thick.
It's a Dodge ... 5.5" BS will be just fine. If it were a Plymouth it would be very close on the outside. Dodges are wider in the quarters and have the inner wheelhouses to match and can take the 5.5 with room to spare.
And you can use a tire with a 12.5 cross section like M/T 28 x 12.5/15LT. On...
Any two-piece wheel that's spun and rivetted or bolted together can be considered monocoque. I see that's the brand name of yours and I remember them well. I think Cragar and Centerline pretty much killed the brand with lower prices and mass production.
