    hypothetical wheel question

Still around according to their website...and have been for over 100 years! PLUS...they have real 'chrome reverse' wheels! have been thinking quite a while about those and a 'period' Day Two look... :)

FINALLY remembered the other name - Stockton Wheel; any experience there? Appreciate the comments and recommendations.

    hypothetical wheel question

Thanx guys - one vote for Wheel Vintiques. From what I - um, I mean our hypothetical questioner - have been able to deduce, there seems to be just a couple of manufacturers. Looks like Wheel Vintiques, Specialty Wheel and Legendary; looks like most of the other vendors use one of those. Coker...

    hypothetical wheel question

Let's say someone, hypothetically naturally , was wanting to change tyres and wheels on his car. Just for the sake of argument, lets say its on, oh..I dunno...maybe a 67 Belvedere. In green. And hypothetically, lets say he has read the threads on tyres and has decided that since he...

New Shoes: Scott Drake Magnum 500's & Mickey Thompson Sportsman ST's

That looks REAL nice! Been thinking about a similar combo for mine; how about maybe a picture from the front or back or 3/4 to show how much of the wheelwell those take up now maybe please? :) Really nice looking car too.

    Tire comparisons

That is correct. Cooper has made MTs since time immemorial . Interestingly tho, even before the Goodyear acquisition, the 'current line' of M/T street tyres used a Goodyear carcass. [ST] Several lines of Coopers are still made here, just that the 'cobras' are made in mexico. There are now some...

    Tire comparisons

Only 2 tyres Ive ever had [manufacturing defects] on in my life were michelin. One was on a Ducati, had about 400 miles on it and tumoured a sidewall at 80 mph...glad I felt it in my oh-so-delicate bottom before it blew... In the size the OP is looking at, I would suggest Mickey Thompsons -...

    Mickey Thompson tires

Theres a more complete explanation in one of the 'crappy BFGs turned brown ' threads, but basically, Cooper has made Mickey Thompson tyres for decades. However... the M/T Sportsmans used a Goodyear carcass. GoodYear recently purchased Cooper... so while the design of the Sportsman ST and the...

    Crappy BF Goodrich'

Hey, its fine to disagree... you have the inalienable right to be wrong. [ ;) kidding, just kidding...] Tyres are a 'thing' with me, so Ive been doing a bit of research. BFG still makes the TAs - the ones we're talking about here, no one is questioning Comp series - but are made in mexico...

    Crappy BF Goodrich'

Well, I sure cant comment on exactly when the 'p-metric' size notation began, but the tyres you mention could very easily been exactly as you recollect; Michelin made red line radials in the late 60s - they were OE on certain Triumphs and Jags, and maybe others. Had a TR6 that had them on it...

    Crappy BF Goodrich'

Interesting... I'll hafta check in on that. My info came from a person in the tyre binness - a BFG [and others] retailer, tho he works on the wholesale side.

    Crappy BF Goodrich'

No sir, BFG still makes em, but the TAs are made in mexico... Coker does use some BFG carcasses tho as I understand. The reason so many of us use the TAs is that BFG is one of the few companies that still makes the sizes we need. That, plus history and looks, but it ofttimes comes down to what...

Can someone photo-shop for me? I'd like to change my wheels on my 66 Coronet

BTW... arent those wheels Radirs? (or Raders if theyre vintage - cant tell from the photo on my small monitor) Keystone Raiders were Keystone's version of the Cragar S/S bitd; had some and always thought them superior... One other suggestion; the spinner center caps dont really 'go' with your...

Can someone photo-shop for me? I'd like to change my wheels on my 66 Coronet

Personally, I dont know why you would want to change them - I like em! Theyre somewhat 'different/unusual' as you dont see them everyday and are 'period correct'. Of course, sometimes we all just want to do something different, which I understand. My only suggestion would be some other 5 spoke...

    WHICH WHEELS?

If Id just read a little closer and pay attention to who's posting what, I wouldnt look QUITE so stupid... :D I like your 63 better anyway, not that it matters. Looks great as is. Many congratulations on a great new car.

    WHICH WHEELS?

WOW... what a great looking car! And normally I dislike that colour... Anyway, while you cant go wrong with TorqThrusts or Cragar S/S, how about considering some polished Radirs? Period correct, a little different and made here. Or, the Rocket Strike is similar, but made in redchina. :( Chrome...
