Those are actually mustang columns but I have done a 69 coronet too. 1970 and up columns would be tougher because of the keyed column and column shift would be almost impossible.

I run 8 gauge wire,both power and ground, directly from the battery. I use a 50 amp fuse so the draw must be under that as I have never actually checked.

That's not true. It still steers, just like it would without an assist. I have put several units in cars and they work great. I use units out of a Prius and you can do it for under 100 bucks.

The last few sets I bought do have races,although I always knock them out because they have been cheap Chinese crap. Cheap insurance to just replace the bearing/race assemblies with quality pieces.

I cut my Mancini rods down in a lathe also.
