What do you do with the car? Race it or is it your street driver?? I would put on the 625 and see how it ran... Might surprise you.... Some people still think " bigger " is better with a carburetor... Read some articles about.....
Take it back apart and double check your float height..... Not sure why gremlins change this after you install it...... SUPER critical and often a " hurried " part of a rebuild

I haven't used it yet, but I found alot of recommendations for the name brand " Autozone" degreaser... Reviews said it smells good and it will not evaporate quickly so it works pretty good.. for $4 a can it works as well as the stuff thats double in price.....
At the Auto glass shop I worked at in the late 70's we used Powdered Graphite in the channels where the glass slid up and down.....
It worked well in the door lock mechanism also....
Yes, I went through this on my 67 440.... Somehow I lost my pump when the car was disassembled ..
What I needed was the LARGE TRW pump, and I am guessing that is what you had.. Can you get it back???
If you don't have the correct brackets that go on the correct pump, NOTHING lines up.....
