Finally all sorted out and able to drive on a regular basis.
Never heard of the gearshift lever issue before, but Brewer's new shaft is an extremely nice piece.
I 'lowered' my 62 by installing the 2 bolt hole front spring mounts and mounting the spring in the upper hole.
Not sure if that is an option with the springs moved.
Recent dilemma for most.
Craftsmanship is disappearing, around here at least.
Some just send stuff out and bolt it together.
I'd stick with individual places/people for each item, and order parts and put together what you can.
I could list experiences, good and bad, but even after getting...
Looks great, although that rust free floor looks pretty darn fantastic.
I think I posted pics of my original mat before. It was molded around the filler by partially stamping through it in a halfmoon pattern, so it laid on top of the raised section, and was lower on the trunk floor.
Had...
For what it's worth, I bought a new dash harness years prior, when I went to efi I removed the old fusebox, bought a small Painless 7 circuit modern fusebox, wired it into the stock harness, mounted in stock location. 7 circuits is plenty and small enough to fit in stock location.
Denso...
I have FiTech, placed a Painless ground and power hub under the dash, as well as a ground hub next to the battery.
IGN run and IGN start both go to the power hub, and I feed the FiTech, coil, fusebox ignition accessories, and voltmeter from it.
Ground everything to the hubs and back to...
Yes, I have the ground strap, also grounded everything to a ground hub, new AAW harness.
I got a ring with the tank and one with the sending unit, iirc both were the same.
Spectra tank for my 62, original strap, fit perfect.
Bought the sending unit as well, fit no problem with the new locking ring.
Maybe a new ring doesn't play well with an old sending unit, or vice-versa?
My issue now is my gauge doesn't work. I did test the gauge/wiring, so I guess I'm pulling...
Pioneer Bluetooth receiver mounted at the bottom of the dash with 2 L brackets, no cd, small and extremely light.
Wrapped it in a black mess, which is actually for hanging dryer or bathroom vent tube.
Boat antenna, it's basically just a wire under the dash, car does not have factory radio or...
I swapped out the mile long b-body Hurst knuckle buster handle, especially in reverse on the heater controls, for a 68 a-body handle.
It's near perfect, could use an extra inch, so I think a trip to the hardware store will solve that, threaded sleeve/rod.
Anyone else use a different handle...
Our first official outing in it, couple parks next to us, guy gets out, "Wow, this will be nice when it's done!"
"It's done." I said, "It's not going to get much more done than this, but thanks anyway."
I got the trans back in and had to modify the header collectors, cut/weld/fit/etc.
Later that night, I realized I put the pipes on upside down.
I couldn't stop laughing at myself, not even upset.
So I spent the next weekend putting the exhaust together, again.
Finished fabbing/installing the...
Oh, it wants to tip back, jack under trans now, as well as wood blocks under the bellhousing to keep it there for now.
Just don't want the engine mounts to suffer.
