360's have a vin pad pass side above the pan. I have a lot of 360 truck motors, except Little Red, and I've never seen a vin number on a truck motor. My 73 W200 that my dad bought new has it's original 360 and no vin number.

Good stock rockers and rods are fine with that Comp cam. I've ran similar set ups for years.

72 440 should have a forged crank. 440 went to cast in mid 73. Does the flex plate have a label on it? I'd pull the pan too. Did you drive it and if so did it have any vibration?

Trucks, B/C bodies and motorhomes could have a 440 in 77-78. 77 D150 could have a 440. All the blocks are the same.

I'm running two 742 and one 489 cases. I like the 742 as they also usually came with the clutch type S/G as where the 489 came with the cone type. They are interchangeable though.

My 74 400 Coronet has a Saginaw pump.

Looking at the first journals I agree that the left one is the 440. 50.00 for a good useable 383 crank.

The 440 one will have bigger main journals.

Pretty sure all 76-78 452 heads use these plugs. The several sets that I've had/have do.
