I had to break out my poison pen

They did it in the 1960s well before they were “forced” to because it was cheaper. Look at all the plastic in the 1970 E body interior. The entire door panels, the console etc. all plastic. The Barracuda grille and lower grille. All plastic. The 70 Plymouth dashboard the lower pieces went from...

I had to break out my poison pen

But that has nothing to do with all The plastic used in domestic cars. The latest car I’ve owned with close to no Plastic was my 64 Chrysler. The armrest bases are the only plastic parts in the interior. And the tail light lenses and grille emblem were the only exterior pieces.

I had to break out my poison pen

78 was far from the switch to plastic. Look at 66/67 Chargers compared to 68-70 cars. Plastic Grilles, more plastic on the dash and interior. Go back to 64 and my 300K had zero plastic on the dash.

Built it for my daughter. Original flathead with a homemade adapter to a World Class T5 and an Explorer 8.8. Four wheel disc brakes and a GM HEI. Split manifolds and an Offenhauser dual carb intake.

I had to break out my poison pen

Rockers weren’t as bad as floors. They used horse hair as insulation and if it got wet it stayed wet until the floor rusted to drain it lol

I had to break out my poison pen

The early 50s Mopars were the pinnacle of quality innovation IMO. My dad owned several and every one was slow, but dependable as an anvil. Nothing like a car that was parked outside for 40 years with no air cleaner starting and running well with a marine gas tank hooked to the carb. He replaced...

The sad demise of American car culture

I call total bovine scattology. Last weekend I was at my place in Tennessee and in Gatlinburg there was an event called Slammedenough. There were literally thousands of young guys out there in the lowered and cambered cars and trucks. While definitely not my style of cars or modifications...

    Shipping a car across country?

I’ve used Gartho Logistics twice in the last year from southern and central California to Chicago. Just did an open trailer both times it was right around 1800 each time. On My 67 R/T he picked it up around 6 PM on a Saturday, called me Monday to see if a late night delivery would be ok, and...

Has this area of Florida been hit by a hurricane before?

The house in question pays 50,000$ a year in property tax. As of each of his neighbors, they are contributing their fare share…

At 8 million dollars, I’d hope the house was well built

Has this area of Florida been hit by a hurricane before?

So how about everyone in California with earthquakes, or Kansas with tornadoes, or Forest Fires across the entire west?

    A bird in the hurricane

This guy owns about 20 Mopars and knows them very well. He got the 2 that meant the most to him out and back to Ohio. These he put up on the lifts and secured the house before he left.

    A bird in the hurricane

Water, not wind. 10’ storm surge and hurricane rated windows.

    THE END IS NEAR!

I agree with you on every point but the automobile, it allows us to travel to see people face to face more easily. We didn’t have to rely on train schedules if we needed to travel more than 20 miles.

    THE END IS NEAR!

That goes both ways with the stories about EVs burning and 27K battery replacements

    THE END IS NEAR!

Buick and Cadillac have already stated they will be BEV only. Stellantis will be offering ICE vehicles they just introduced the turbo I6 engine this year. The Charger and Challenger platform is going away after an 18 year run. (Interesting that the B body ran for 17 years) It was fun while it...

    THE END IS NEAR!

I can give 2 shits about the science, I rode in a Tesla plaid. That changed my perspective I will keep my 1st Gen Charger, Coronet R/T, and my TRX, but a new Banshee powered Charger will be in the garage with them. I do see them getting driven less and less as I get used to the performance of...
