Was your 408 LA or Magnum based? The Magnum block has a lower deck height, and requires the intake manifold to be milled to fit, no matter what heads you run
I had my block and heads powder coated. It looks great and is easy to keep clean. I did the block, head, and trans case on my SRT-4 done 12 years ago and they held up great as well
CAP is Clean Air Package which would be a California car. AFAIK the CAP cars had a dual snorkel air cleaner with a tube on the drivers side snorkel for a hose to connect to the breather on the valve cover.
A 5 or 6 speed required some pretty major floor surgery to install, the gearvendors is a nice option but only has a .78 OD ratio vs .70 for a 4L60E and no lockup torque converter. The 518/46RH Also needs major floor surgery. The 4L60E also has a 3.06 1st gear so a 4L60E with a 3.55 gear will...
Anyone? I know this is an old thread. Just looking for input. Was going to go with a Gearvendors with a 727 but the steeper OD, lockup torque converter and lower 1st gear all seem to make a good argument for the A41.
